Working for the Lord
While we sleep, beavers are busy gathering sticks
and mud to build dams in streams and rivers. These big
brown-haired animals have long sharp teeth that continue
to grow throughout their lifetime. Therefore, beavers are
always building. Their work benefits them as well as other
wildlife. The dams filter water to reduce water pollution,
allow different types of plants to grow and give a good
environment for fish and animals. The watertight dams
store water during droughts and also help prevent flooding.
As beavers work through the night, we need to light up
the night with the Gospel. Many people dwell in darkness
without much knowledge of God. As we meet and greet
people, we have a glorious opportunity to labor for the Lord.
When Jesus lived in the world, he made the most of his time.
Jesus said, "I must work the works of Him who sent Me
while it is day; The night is coming when no one can work.
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world,"
(John 9:4-5).
When Jesus called his Disciples, he trained them to be
busy beavers for the Lord. They did the most important type
of labor. The Disciples spent their time and energy sharing
the message of salvation with as many people as possible.
Jesus commanded us to focus on one main task. "And Jesus
came and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority has been
given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,' " (Matthew
28:18-19).
As Paul repeated and reinforced this command, he said
that delivering the message is the main point. We should
not worry about getting personal attention or recognition.
Since every soul is precious and worthy of salvation, we
need to be busy planting Gospel seeds. "I planted, Apollos
watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who
plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives
the increase. Now he who plants, and he who waters are
one, and each one will receive his own reward according to
his own labor," (1 Corinthians 3:6-8).
Fire Destroys 60,000
Pounds of Frozen
Chicken, No Injuries
Reported
By Joe Brady, Editor

The Times
Screven County, Georgia
- A late morning fire on
Tuesday, October 10th,
resulted in the destruction
of 60,000 pounds of frozen
chicken, as a Mar Jac
Poultry eighteen-wheeler
caught fire along Georgia
Highway 21, near mile
marker 28. Miraculously,
no one sustained serious
injuries during the incident.
The incident occurred
in the vicinity of the Bay
Branch area, when the
trailer being towed by
the Mar Jac Poultry tmck
suffered a catastrophic
mechanical failure. The
rear axle of the trailer
caught fire, swiftly
engulfing the entire trailer
in flames.
Georgia Highway Patrol
officers arrived at the scene
to assess the situation.
Their initial investigation
detemiined that the
incident was the result
of a mechanical failure,
rather than a collision or
other external factors. The
absence of an accident
helped rule out any
human error, highlighting
the importance of
regular maintenance and
safety checks for large
commercial vehicles.
The most substantial
casualty of the incident
was the cargo itself.
The 60,000 pounds of
frozen chicken stored
in the trailer sustained
severe damage due to the
intensity of the fire and
the firefighting efforts
undertaken by the Screven
County Fire Department.
Firefighters battled the
blaze relentlessly, ensuring
the fire was brought under
control to prevent it from
spreading to nearby areas
or causing further damage.

A Seed
From
The Sower
-Michael Guido
An unhappy skeptic
said to Benjamin Franklin,
‘The Constitution is
a mockery! Where’s
the happiness that it
guarantees?” “My friend,”
said Franklin, “it only
guarantees the pursuit of
happiness.”
Our word for happiness
can be misleading. The
‘root” hap means chance.
Human happiness is
dependent on the chances
and the changes of life,
the “things” that we
consider to be the daily
events or circumstances
of life that come and go
without warning. On the
other hand, consider the
beatitudes given to us
by Jesus. They are not
about some hope for a
future or blissful state in
heaven. They are for the
now which belongs to the
Christian at this moment
in our lives.
The way the beatitudes
are written assures the
Christian of the power
of God to change us and
others, the joyous thrill
of His presence, and the
hope of life with Him. The
word blessed that is used
in each of the beatitudes
is a very special word. It
describes a joy that has
its secret within itself - a
joy that is peaceful and
untouchable and self-
contained. It is a joy that
is above and beyond and
independent of all the
circumstances of life. It is
a joy that comes from God
Himself. “No one,” said
Jesus, “will take your joy
from you!”
The world cannot take
away the joy that comes
from and through Christ.
Walking daily with Him,
and “doing” the beatitudes
assures us of a joy that no
one or nothing can disturb.
Prayer: Give us, our
Heavenly Father, a peace
that passes this world’s
understanding, a joy that
comes from Your presence,
and hope that assures us
of our home with You. In
Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Scripture For
Today: God blesses you
when people mock you
and persecute you and
lie about you and say all
sorts of evil things against
you because you are my
followers. Be happy about
it! Be very glad! Matthew
