Break-In at Bay Station
Prompts Investigation by
Millen Police Department

MILLEN. GA -
The Millen
Police Department
is currently
investigating a break-
in that occurred on
Thursday, October
19, 2023, at the Bay
Station located on
Highway 25. Law
enforcement officers
were alerted to the incident when they discovered signs of forced entry into the store during their routine patrol.
The officers were making their rounds in the vicinity of the Bay Station when they noticed that the front door
of the establishment had been forcibly breached. A subsequent review of the store's video surveillance footage
uncovered a potential suspect in the case.
The Millen Police Department is actively working on identifying the suspect from the surveillance video and
has also collected crucial evidence related to the break-in. In a significant development in the investigation,
samples for DNA testing have been obtained and sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab
for analysis.
Law enforcement is urging the community to come forward with any information that may aid in solving

War Eagles Cross Country
named Regional Champs

The Jenkins County War Eagles Cross Country Team was named Regional Champions at the Region 3 Class
A-Divison 1 Championship. The 7 War Eagles competing all finished in the top 15 of the races. The 7 runners
that competed dressed in blue uniform included Ben Tyler, Rashad Allen, Ahmad Sullivan, James Allen, James
Dailey, Hasan Grimes, and Noah Griffith. The team was coached by Jim Jarvis. The student manager this

Regional Championship Friday Night
War Eagles and Portal Panthers will battle for the Region 3 Class A-Division 2 Championship. Game begins
at 7:30 p.m. at Portal High School.
Courthouse fire
under investigation,
possibly intentional
A suspicious overnight fire Monday morning at the Jenkins County
Courthouse mechanical room is under investigation. At approximately
12:30 a.m. a fire was discovered in the mechanical room. It appeared,
during a preliminary investigation, to have been deliberately set. There
will be more details available as the investigation continues. The public
is asked to contact the Millen Police Department at 478-982-2750 if you
have additional information.

Court’s Office

office will soon be resuming
its passport services, all thanks
to the determined efforts of
Mayor King Rocker. The
return of passport services
will undoubtedly streamline
the process for residents, and
it wouldn't have been possible
without Mayor Rocker's proactive involvement.
Mayor Rocker revealed his contribution, saying, "I had some contacts
from my father-in-law's days and used them." His connections played a
pivotal role in expediting the revival of this essential service, benefiting
