Matthew 7:12 - Do Unto Others
In Matthew 7:12 it says," So in everything, do to others
what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the
Law and the Prophets."
Not only is this written in scripture. The Nelons have
written a song on this particular subject. "Do unto others".
Have you ever encountered that one person who does
not want to pay the amount of money they owe to you?
Recently, I have.
Now, I have to say, I pay my bills. I have never decided
one day, I am just not going to pay that. I was raised you
pay your debts and you pay your debts on time. At the same
time, I was taught that you do unto others as you would
have them do unto you. I remember a scripture that my
Dad would always quote,, “The wicked borroweth, and
payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and
giveth.” Psalms 37:21.
Being raised in a Christian family, you and I both know
the importance of paying what you owe. Of course, when
we are younger, we learn that money does not grow on
trees and sometimes, we live paycheck to paycheck, or use
a credit card to the limit, not really knowing what we were
doing. But, never would Inot pay what was owed.
The NELSON'S
As a Christian, we all signed up to do what is right and
what the Lord commands of us. To love each other and live
by the scriptures set forth by him.
The best we can all do is to hold fast to the scripture
Romans 13:7, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God
what is God's." Pay everyone what you owe him: taxes
to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due,
respect to whom respect is due, and honor to whom honor
is due".
This particular song has some fantastic lyrics, it may not
be what we all want to hear, but it is still very true.
Brothers & sisters what the Bible says is true,
you must do unto others as you'd have them do to you.
Chorus:
You've got to just do unto others,
we're all sisters & brothers,
do unto others as you'd have them do to you.
Well a man can go to college & still be a worthless fool,
what good is a head full of knowledge if you don't know
the golden rule.
When someone's wagon gets stuck in the mud,
help push them to the bam or some
day when your wagon gets stuck,
you'll be there til the judgment mom.
When you climb up to success,
don't snub the people on the ground cause brother
when your luck gets turned you meet the same people
coming down.
Oh,when someone tells you gossip,
keep it locked up on the shelf,
cause you can't sling mud at people & expect to keep
clean yourself.
