Boy, did we have a fun filled
Halloween day at the Center
When the seniors started arriving that morning in their
costumes, we really weren’t sure who it was coming in!
The seniors were welcomed with Halloween decorations
all over the Center.
To start the morning off, we enjoyed some breakfast
munchies along with our coffee, hot chocolate, or apple
cider while visiting with each other and admiring or
laughing at each other’s outfits. Some of our seniors had
some really outlandish and original costumes that they
paraded around in.
About mid-moming, we had a mummy wrapping
competition between two teams. We had two seniors that
volunteered or got volunteered to be the team’s mummy.
As we cheered our favorite team on as they wrapped their
mummy with toilet tissue, we couldn’t stop laughing while
our mummies began to be unrecognizable as the toilet tissue
began to completely cover them. In the end, it was difficult
to decide which team had the most realistic mummy.
You always have a good time whenever you have a
pumpkin throwing contest.
It may be easy to throw a pumpkin but having to ring
a basket may make it a little more difficult. Our seniors
didn’t disappoint though as they began ringing the baskets
with their pumpkins.
The highlight of our morning was our costume contest.
We were fortunate to have Jessica Wilson with Southland
Realty and her co-workers to come and be our judges. Our
seniors really put on a show as they paraded across the
room toward the judges to let them get a good look at their
costumes. It was a difficult decision for the judges to pick
a winner but they narrowed it down and chose a winner
along with two runner ups. Jessica and her team surprised
everyone by handing out homemade pumpkin bread to all
so everyone was a winner!
After our costume contest, we were entertained as young
Hank Woodard sang us several songs and told us a few jokes.
Hank really put on a show! Hank and his little brother then
went around to all of the seniors and handed out candy.
It was then time for us to finally enjoy some refreshments
consisting of witch’s fingers, dead man’s toes, and a
graveyard cake.
Until next Halloween...

It was a cold dark silent night when suddenly gunfire echoed throughout the jungle,
each side tries in vain to read the other’s mind to guess, estimate, anticipate the next coming
move.
Choking, gasping, sputtering out blood the jungle floor around him turns blood red as men
start falling to the ground like limp rag dolls,
He’s thousands of miles away from home and finds himself shot dying in his fox hole.
The pain he felt was excruciating and he was in and out of conscience,
He awakened to a voice telling him to take a deep breath and to count backwards from 10
to 1.
Tears cascaded down the young soldier’s face, his heart felt so heavy, and he was to weak
to even move.
He looked tip to the sky and saw a beautiful angel in bright glowing white with long golden
hair as she flies right down to him.
She introduced herself as the Angel of Hope, standing there without a sound the angel
realized how much doubt this young soldier felt way deep down inside of him,
as he knew he could just die right there all alone in his fox hole.
There was so much running around inside of his mind,
the angel touched his face and dried his tears up, cry no more my soldier never gives
up on Hope help is on its way, just keep holding on.
The young soldier didn’t know if he was awake or just dreaming but he did as he
was told, next came the Angel of Love she touched his heart, and the heaviness and blood
were
no more.
She told him to keep his eyes on the Cross and Jesus in his Heart and his journey to safety
was about to start.
The Angel of Guidance stopped by and told me to get up, she guided me through the most
difficult parts of the jungle and told me to carry on the rest of the way.
Along came the Angel of Courage, be not afraid my soldier you know what may lie ahead,
use the Courage that lies within you to finish your journey out.
Finally, the Angel of Protection embraces me with her wondrous white wings, “I will always
protect you my young soldier, fear no more help is just over that ridge “.
Next thing he knew he awoke in a recovery room, he just had emergency surgery, were the
5 Angels real.. .he would like to think so.
Some of our veterans have been put through some life altering experiences,
and it’s our job [ you and I] to see that they get all the help and respect that is due to
them.
Without our Armed Forces this would be a country played out much differently,
so, this Veteran’s Day take the time to thank a Veteran it costs nothing but means the
world to the veteran just to be appreciated. They gave up so much to keep this country safe
and free, they did it for you ana they did it for me!!! HAPPY VETERAN’ S DAY
