Gift ideas for that special
angler in your family
Do you have someone you need to buy a Christmas gift for, and all they love is fishing on
the Ogeechee or anywhere big fish are caught?
Please know that not all fishing gifts are created equal. Now, singing bass or fish themed
aprons are cute, but, they are not going to get you on the water more than you are usually
are, nor will it improve anyones angling game. Those that love fishing need to be showered
with gear that will have them enjoying the sport even more than they already do.
I thought for Christmas, I would put together a list of gifts ideas for those fishing fanatics
in your family. This list is made up of everything from fishing lures, gadgets and fishing
clothing that will keep you comfortable during the season. Now, I cannot guarantee that
buying these things will increase the size of your families catch, but I can say there is a
pretty good chance they will help. These gifts will definitely be appreciated and well used
by all fishing enthusiasts. These unique gift ideas make fishing more pleasant and easier to
catch the very best in fish.
Whether you are keeping your catch or just need to chill down your lunch and cool some
beers, a cooler is a must. The Igloo IMX 70 quart cooler is great, sizable and portable. Better,
it is extremely insulated and helps ice last for over seven days.
Fishing can often involve quick slide on shoes. I would say something that you wear
between boots and sneakers. The best ones I have found to use are New Balance 200 Sliders.
These are so comfy that you may even want to wear them on shore and in the water.
Now, a very important item to carry on any fishing excursion is a water bottle. The Yeti
Rambler, 26 ounce Water Bottle is a must for any fisherman. It will keep your water to a
cool temperature for over 36 hours.
Now, one of my favorite new gadgets is the Orvis Flow Zinger. This item is perfect for
holding your clippers, forcepts, fish holding tongs and etc. It is actually like a retractable
leash for your dog, except it clips to your pants or your fishing box and keeps these items
close at hand. I have found that I really need more than one. They are very handy.
And, for my last suggested item. I personally suggest the L.L. Bean Mountain Classic
Puffer Vest for any advid angler. This classic vest cost around $80, but it very nicely made
and offers a quick wami up for the morning or evening on the water. Not to mention, it
doesn't inhibit all your arm movements that go along with fishing. It is water resistant and
the pockets are large enough for those cold river/lake hands.
I hope you found something on this list for the fisherman in your family. I know, I sure did.
I wish you a very Happy Fishing Holiday and Happy Gifting!
