Bowl Season has begun for College Football and in a few days the College Football Playoffs will begin. Once you read this article, at least ten bowl games will have already been played. Most of the games featured teams from smaller conferences. Georgia Southern is one of those early bowl games as they lost in the Myrtle Beach Bowl over the weekend against Ohio. Speaking of the College Football Bowl games, controversy is still swirling over the Playoff Committee leaving out Georgia Bulldogs and Florida State Seminoles. These two teams will square off in the Orange Bowl on December 30 th . However, both teams believe they should be in the College Football Playoffs. A lawmaker from the state of Georgia is supposedly filing a letter to allow the Orange Bowl to be included in the playoffs this year. While the governor of Florida State is reportedly going to file a lawsuit against the playoff committee for not including the Seminoles in the playoffs. Whether either politician will do this is left to be seen; however, one thing is for sure, there are a lot of hurt feelings over this year’s bowl games. One thing that you will leam about “Under the Bleachers,” or sitting in the bleachers is that there will always be controversy! Controversy comes from “blown calls” by referees, “should have been plays” called by the coaches, and “missed plays” by the players. Fans, whether in War Eagles War Eagles Update The War Eagles and Lady War Eagles were in action this past week. On Tuesday night both teams traveled to Jefferson County for their second matchup with the Warriors this season. The War Eagles and Lady War Eagles came out victorious in both games. The Lady War Eagles won 52-24 while the War Eagles came out on top 82-62. The second game of the week was a Friday night showdown at Jenkins County with Screven County. This was the second time these two teams have met this year, meeting only one week prior. The War Eagles put away the Gamecocks easily by a final score of 60-40 winning both matchups this season. The Jenkins County Lady War Eagles narrowly lost to the Lady Gamecocks by a score of 46-42. The Under the Bleachers or under the stands can always seem to see it better than everyone else! The danger of this is missing what is happening while complaining about what we thought happened. Unfortunately, this is most of life and canbecome a pattern if we are not careful. Life can become one big complaint or a lifestyle of complaining if we do not guard our hearts. Remember, the Bible warns us about complaining and in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 we are told, “In all things give thanks.” As we draw towards the close of another year, complaining would be easy as we look back over a year. We could complain about the government, the economy, etc. Or we could spend our time giving thanks. Complaining never overturns a referee’s whistle and complaining never adds good to our lives or changes our circumstances. We are called to give thanks in all things. As we approach the new year and even more this Christmas season, truly we have more to be thankful for than to complain about. At Christmas, we celebrate a Savior who came to redeem us and to give us forgiveness of sins and eternal life. How can we not be thankful, knowing that the God of Heaven came to us in the person of Jesus to set us free? Spend the last days of the year offering our praise rather than our complaints. Until next time, celebrate the joy of the season! Watch some sports! Give thanks! Stop complaining! Praise God from whom all blessings flow! and Lady Basketball Lady War Eagles had previously lost by 17 in the first matchup of the season. The Lady War Eagles and War Eagles will be at home against Metter on Tuesday night December 19th. The games will begin at 6:00 with the girls playing first.
