Flower Arrangement
Workshop
-Veronica Cowart. Special Contributor
The Jenkins County Senior Citizen Center members
participated in a Christmas “make and take” flower
arrangement workshop. The participants created beautiful
live holiday arrangements to be placed in their homes.
Ladies representing the Millen Garden Club, who assisted
with the activity, were Veronica Cowart, Art Johnson,
Sharon Tillman, and Julie West.

Fallon Alyssa Morgan and Clay Tyler Brett
announce their engagement. The bride elect
is the daughter of the late Forrest Malone
Morgan, Tracey Allyson Brady Pruitt, and
Phillip Scott Pruitt of Sylvania, GA. Fallon is
the maternal granddaughter of Mary Alyce Mons
Brady Landis and Edward Leon Landis, and
Danny R. Brady. The bride elect is the paternal
granddaughter of Margaret L. and Herbert M.
Morgan.
The groom elect is the son of Jeremy and Rose
Brett of Sandersville, GA. Clay is the maternal
grandson of George Garbutt and the late
Nancy Garbutt. The groom elect is the paternal
grandson of Mike and Dena Brett, Patty and Jim
Merritt.
The wedding has been planned for the fall of
2025 and invitations will be sent out. The couple
will reside in North Augusta, SC
T he Green Thumb Garden Club spread holiday
cheer by getting Home Place Adult Daycare
Christmas ready. The club hung garland, strung
lights, and decorated trees. This project was just one

After some confusion with the AG center
booking, St. Nicholas elves are busily unpacking
boxes and sorting toys.
Once the applications
have been approved, each
approved family will
receive a phone call from
Ms. Jacinda Ford. Please
note, if you do not receive a
phone call, that means you
have not been approved for
one reason or another. Toy
pickup will be on Dec. 21
from 9-12 p.m. We would
like to thank once again, Samson Distributing for
the boxes, Jenkins County for the use of the AG
Center, and customers of Spring Creek Auction.
Abbi Ridings wed Thomas Royal in
a private ceremony on Nov. 23, 2024.
Abbi works at Poppy Patch Daycare in
Millen and Thomas is a US Marine.
Brier Creek Artillery
Participates in the
Fort Morris Event
-Dess Smith. Special Contributor
The Brier Creek Artillery traveled to
Revolutionary War Fort Morris, "Come and
Take It" event on Saturday, November 23,
2024, at 10:00. The Artillery group is made
up of members of the Brier Creek Chapter
and the Wiregrass Chapter. The event was
the 246th Anniversary Commemoration
of the Siege of Fort Morris that happened
on November 25, 1778. When the British
demanded surrender to which the Patriots
defiantly replied, "Come and take It". After
the presentation of the colors, the National
Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance, a
program was presented of the 15 Historic
Flags. After the speakers, the wreath
presentations were held. There was a total
of over 50 wreaths presented. This was
followed by the 3-round Musket & Canon
volley Salute and then taps was played.
