In response, the company has begun preparations for "going out of business" (GOB) sales across all remaining stores, a move that marks an uncertain future for the retailer. Despite this setback, Big Lots expressed optimism about securing an alternative deal. The company is actively pursuing a "going concern transaction" with Nexus or another party, aiming to finalize the process by early January. “While we remain hopeful that we can close an alternative going concern transaction, in order to protect the value of the Big Lots estate, we have made the difficult decision to begin the GOB process,” said Bruce Thom, Big Lots' President and CEO, in a statement. The company emphasized that it remains open for business both in stores and online while negotiations continue. Thom assured customers and stakeholders that updates will be provided as the situation evolves. Big Lots has been a fixture in the retail sector, known for offering a wide variety of discounted home goods, furniture, and groceries. The news of potential closures and liquidation sales has sparked concern among loyal shoppers and employees. For now, customers are encouraged to take advantage of sales while they last, as the future of Big Lots remains uncertain. Further developments regarding the retailer's efforts to secure a new buyer are expected in the coming weeks. 912.451.6397 Christmas ^■All sales final.
