Project Achievement is a public speaking competi tion where students choose a project area of interest, research a topic, then write and present a 4-6-minute oral presentation in front of peers and judges. For Clo verleaf 4-H’ers, students in grades 4-6, this process is about hands on learning, self-confidence, and sharing knowledge. Screven County had 10 out standing participants attend the 2022 Cloverleaf District Project Achievement. Rain Cail (6th Grade) competed in the Performing Arts Gen eral project, Ashley Clem (6th Grade) competed in the General Recreation project, Malaya Jenkins (6th Grade) placed second in the Cat Care project, Haynes Sell (6th Grade) placed first in the Beef project. Jay Conley Smith (6th Grade) placed first in the Fruits, Vegetables, and Nuts project, Luke Stockwell (5th Grade) placed third in the Historic People project. Anthony Warren (6th Grade) placed third in the Dog Care and Training Project, Paul Warren (6th Grade) placed second in Sports-Team proj ect, CJ Wiggins (6th Grade) placed second in the Poultry project, and Anna Weaver (6th Grade) placed second in the Performing Arts Instru mental project. We are very proud of each of these young people for all the hard work they put into their projects. They truly shined at DPA. Art exhibit to library -Sharon Blank Wow, you don’t want to miss what’s coming to the library this month! You just won’t believe what we have going on. First, there’s the news you’ve been told about al ready - our special National Library Week (All Month Long) Tablet Giveaway, where we will be giving away a Samsung Galaxy A7 Lite tablet to one lucky per son! All you have to do is stop in at the library any day in April, and fill out a sim ple fomi. There’s only two mles: you must come in per son to the library, and please do not fill out more than one entry per person each day. This giveaway is made pos sible by the Georgia Public Library System (GPLS.) Second, keep your eyes peeled for an announcement soon about the first art ex hibit we’ve had in our multi purpose room since the pan demic hit! Our artists will be Leslie Daniell and Kennedie Black, both high school stu dents and both amazing art ists. The Screven County Library Board of Trustees will meet on Thursday, April 21 at 4 pm at the library. The Heritage House senior center is known for its cheerful staff and elaborate Easter bonnet contest, but once the town’s retired librarian, Julia Tilley, checks in to recover from an illness, Lucy sees a side of the facility that isn’t so perfect. Especially after resident Ag nes Neal goes missing dur ing the Easter bonnet contest, and all the signs point to foul play. While the police stall their investigation, Lucy and the sharp-eyed Agnes start poking around to see what happened and why. Well, that’s all for now - see you at the library!
