New at the library
THE MAGNOLIA PALACE by Fiona Davis. Eight
months after Lillian Carter lost her mother to the 1919 Span
ish Flu pandemic, her world has fallen apart. Where she had
once been one of the most in-demand artist’s models in New
York, now no one wants to hire her and a brewing scandal
threatens to destroy what’s left of her life. In desperation,
she takes a position as secretary to Helen Frick, daughter of
industrialist Henry Clay Frick, finding herself enmeshed in
family drama that culminates in a murder so scandalous that
the effects are still being felt fifty years later. Taking up the
chase for the unknown killer decades later is model Veronica
Weber, who is hired to do a photoshoot in the infamous
Frick manor - and then just as quickly dismissed, but not
before finding clues that might be the key to solving a mys
tery that’s been half a century in the making.
Well, that’s all for now - see you at the library!
