I know that your family will love these as much as mine did. Of course everyone loves bacon and this has always been a family treat. Very Deli cious! Enjoy! Nell Ingredients cup finely chopped onion tablespoon butter 3 cups cubed day-old bread 1/4 teaspoon celery salt 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper 1 large egg, lightly beaten 10 bacon strips In a small skillet, saute onion in butter until tender. In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, celery salt, garlic powder, salt, pepper and onion mixture; toss to mix evenly. Add egg; toss to coat bread cubes. Roll into ten 1-1/4-in. balls. Wrap a bacon strip around each ball. Secure with a toothpick. In a large skillet, cook bacon roll-ups on all sides over medium heat for 18 minutes or until bacon is crisp and a thermometer inserted into stuffing reads at least 160°. Drain on paper towels. If you are having a party or guests, you can place lettuce on the platter first. I always added a BBQ dip for our family reunions. Nells Baked Apple Pudding This recipe was handed down to me from my Mother. This was the Sun day dessert after the meal. I always looked forward to dinner on Sunday's. Especially this dessert. I know you will love it as much as my family did. Yummy!! Nell This will take 15 min. April brought that tradition to the GRITS Book Club with a bring-your- own-book night at the library. The floor opened for each person to talk about a recent read during the meeting. The avid readers profiled some books that have yet to make the monthly discus sion, but they enjoyed and would recommend. There is a variety of topics to choose from. Gloria Parker, Gus Bazemore and Jean Hagan served as hostesses. Twenty-one members and 2 visitors for a total of 23 in attendance. We welcomed new members Zandra Overstreet, Ellen Hoel, Judy Morgan and Madison Thompson. The meeting was called to order by President Joni by Gus Bazemore. Joni Thompson awarded Susan Ragains with a State Garden Club past president’s pin in recognition of her years of service as president. In addition, she presented her with an autographed copy of Laura Martin’s book. Naturalist Book of Wildflowers. Joni Thompson attended the State Garden Club Convention in Macon on April 12 and 13, 2022. It was noted that there was a historic loss of Garden Club members and clubs due to the pandemic. We are delighted that our club has remained stable, and we are gaining new members. Gary Weaver presented a very informative program on raising bees, harvesting honey, and transporting bees to various states to take advantage of flower blooms. Horticultural Tip of the Month was a list of spring gardening advice given by Zandra Overstreet. Mary Lariscy won the door prize. Neil Patterson and Raymond Moore, 406 North Main Street have the Beauty Spot of the Month. The May 2022 meeting will be held at the Cail Center on May 31, 2022, at 12:00 Noon. Thompson.
