They will follow on September 24 with the Gamecock Challenge at Georgia Southern. On the season there will be five competitions before the Class A state sectionals at Ola High School in McDonough GA on November 5. “The girls have come a long way since learning their choreography back in June,” explained LeMaster. “Since August 1 they have been working hard on cleaning up and perfecting the routine to maximize as many points on their score sheets as possible.” A total of ten members make up the roster for the Lady Gamecocks - a pair of seniors in Gisell Gomez and CeCe Robinson, a single junior in Gracen Kullberg, six sophomores in Lilly Doss, Camdyn Forehand, Olivia Jackson, Terriona Turner, Abbey Wall, and Emma Warren, and a single freshman in Peyton Lee. The small roster makes some of the more difficult, high scoring routines, impossible. “With a squad of ten the girls really have to focus on maximizing execution points to help make up the difference in difficulty points, explained LeMaster” In Class A this year, in neither Di or D2, will there be purely region competitions as there are not enough schools with squads. In fact all Class A schools will be combined into the one state sectional competition in McDonough. The top 16 squads from the sectional will advance to the state finals at the Macon Centreplex on November 12. By Region 3 Di agreement the squad with the highest score from the region at the sectional will claim the region title. A season ago SCHS was the region runner-up to ECI as the Lady Tigers had a higher score at the sectional. As of now Metter is the only other school from the region with a competitive schedule listed. In 2020 the Lady Gamecocks won the Region 3A championship which was their fifth consecutive after four straight in Region 4AA. 2022 SCMS Competitive 2022 SCHS Competitive Cheer Schedule Cheer Schedule September 17 Raider Rumble at West Laurens High School September 24 Gamecock Challenge at Georgia Southern October 15 Falcon Frenzy at East Laurens High School October 29 Rumble in the Jungle at Swainsboro High School Region is To Be Determined September 17 Raider Rumble at West Laurens High School September 24 Gamecock Challenge at Georgia Southern October 15 Falcon Frenzy at East Laurens High School October 22 Battle in the Boro at Statesboro High School October 29 Rumble in the Jungle at Swainsboro High School November 5 State Sectionals at Ola High School November 12 State Finals at the Macon Centreplex Another group that enjoyed the dry conditions last week were the Lady Gamecock cheerleaders, who begin competition Saturday. Defending region champion Claxton claimed the meet with 47 points while Jefferson County was second with 70. Bryan County, which started with five runners also finished but four as they had one Lady Redskin unable to finish. The Red and White will return to their course at the Black Creek Scout Reservation tomorrow, November 15, to host another meet beginning at 4:30. The 24 total for the four girls meant a finish of 22 nd (there were only 20 runners in the field) would have enabled SCHS to finish ahead of Claxton. Bryan County’s four finishers (4, 6, 7, and 13) totaled 30. To win Claxton had finishes of 1, 8,11,12, and 15 while Jefferson County took places 5,14,16,17, and 18. SCHS, which has a roster of but six had an injured runner and an ill runner. Times for the runners went from Claxton’s first place winner at 26:38 to the last three Jeffco girls at 44.02, 46.58, and 47.02.
