WINS REGION PREVIEW

The Class A Region 3 Di cross country meet is not at the Black Creek Boy Scout Reservation until October 25,
but in what had to be considered an early region preview, the SCHS Lady Gamecocks of Anna Canetto won over
Bryan County, Claxton, and Metter, the other members of the region, in a five team meet on September 15. Last
week’s meet, also on the Scout Reservation, additionally included Region 2 Jefferson County. SCHS will next be
in action on September 27, also at home.
After not being able to field a full lineup on September 8, the Red and White had the
necessary five runners last week to gain a team score. SCHS finished with 47, Bryan
County with 58, Claxton with 60, Metter with 63, and Jeffco with 104. Based on
Thursday’s scores the region title is very, very wide open.
Most impressive for SCHS was the time improvement from the first meet to the second
for the three runners who were in their second meet. Annaston Dotschay was the top runner
for the Lady Gamecocks as well as the overall meet. Sadie Beth Sell was second for the Red
and White and second overall. Dotschay improved from 28.47 to 26.20 and Sell improved
from 28.06 to 26.22. Third for SCHS, tenth overall, was Lynnlie Rountree who improved from
31.15 to 29.31. New to the team and running in her first meet was Kaydance Bragg who was 12
th overall with a time of 29.55 while Addie Rountree, out with injury the first week, was 22 nd
with a time of 35.45. All of the runners, save senior Lynnlie Rountree, are freshmen.

throughout this area in December 2022.
“American Pickers” is a documentary series that explores the
fascinating world of antique “picking” on The History Channel.
The hit show follows skilled pickers in the business, as they hunt
for America’s most valuable antiques. They are always excited to
find sizeable, unique collections and learn the interesting stories
behind them.
As they hit the back roads from coast to coast, the Pickers are
on a mission to recycle, and rescue forgotten relics. Along the
way, they want to
meet characters
with remarkable
and exceptional
items. They hope
to give historically
significant objects
a new lease on life
while learning a
thing or two about
America’s past
along the way.

Our New Home - week 3
Joe Brady

Work has come to a stand still
this week. We are still doing some
demolition in preparation of the two
additional offices. Contractor issues
have silenced the hammers. We are
hoping however to have the door closed
in between Ross Drags and us by
Saturday. We did find a huge ant bed
under one of the display cabinets once it
was removed. Thank goodness the ants
were gone but we should have taken
a picture of the ant mound, it was the
biggest we had ever seen!
