Sheriff 5 s Office issues BOLO
FOUR ARRESTED IN THEF
Special to
The Sylvania Times
The Screven County Sheriff s Office has been investigating a string
of burglaries and attempted burglaries in the area of Newington
Highway between late August 2022 to current. These burglaries all
had similar circumstances where suspect(s) had entered the residences through windows and went through the residences
stealing items of value. During these burglaries items such as currency, firearms, jewelry, and electronics had been stolen.
During the investigation two suspects had been identified that had ties to Screven County and Savannah. Warrants were
issued for these suspects, and it was discovered that one of the suspects had been selling stolen items from Screven County
in Savannah. Screven County investigators reached out to Savannah Police Department for assistance in locating one or both
suspects.
On October 3, 2022, officers from Savannah Police Department reported that during a string of burglaries earlier that day
in Savannah, large number of items were stolen including an electronic item that the victim was able to track. The item being
tracked was traveling north towards Sylvania at this time.
Screven County Investigators began attempting to locate the vehicle that was transporting the stolen item. A short time later
a vehicle was observed that was associated with the burglary suspects here in Screven County on Savannah Highway. Screven
County Sheriff s Office coordinated with Sylvania Police Department and Georgia State Patrol and a probable cause traffic stop
was performed on the vehicle on Halcyondale Road near Savannah Highway.
During the traffic stop the car was found to be occupied by four males. One of the males had active felony warrant and was
taken into custody. During the stop there was located drugs, concealed firearms, and items belonging to burglaries from that
day in Savannah. All four occupants were arrested on scene and the vehicle towed to impound.
A Subsequent search of the vehicle located numerous items that were stolen from burglaries in the area. All four occupants
including one juvenile, remain detained on felony charges.

Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 17 and runs through Nov. 4,
2022. “There will be two Saturday voting options in this cycle
as well,” explains Hannah Derisso, Screven County Elections
Supervisor. The Georgia midterm elections is a critical race as
both parties jostle for the controlling party in the Senate. Georgia
voters are choosing a new state legislature and the state’s top
executives. Georgia’s 14 U.S. congressional seats and one of two
U.S. Senate seats are up for grabs.
Early voting takes place Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. -
5 p.m., and the second and third Saturday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
before election day. Early voting will take place at the Screven
County Courthouse.
Poll workers will require a valid photo ID such as a driver’s
license, passport, or voter identification card.
“If you can’t vote in person - either during early voting or on
Election Day-you still have time to request an absentee ballot to
vote by mail,” Derisso says. Absentee ballots may be requested
any time between 78 and 11 calendar days prior to Election Day,
Nov. 8, 2022.
