V0L.1 NO. 42 October 26,2022 | LEGAL ORGAN OF SCREVEN COUNTY | Sylvania, Georgia $1.25
Sylvania woman
killed in weekend crash
Joe Brady
Editor
On Friday afternoon the fourteenth of October at
approximately 3:30 p.m. Ms. Doris Parker of Sylvania
was stopped at the stop sign on Perimeter Road at GA 21,
facing south in her 2021 Nissan Murano. A 2013 Chevrolet
Traverse driven by Antoinette Roberts of Sylvania was
traveling west on GA 21. Ms. Parker failed to yield after
stopping and entered the intersection, directly into the
path of Roberts.
Roberts explained to investigators that she attempted to
stop the Traverse but skidded before striking the left side
of the Parker’s Nissan. Investigators determined Roberts’
skid for approximately 95 feet before making impact with
Parker’s vehicle.
After the initial impact, Parker traveled approximately
30 feet before overturning. Mrs. Parker was transported to East Georgia Regional Hospital where
she succumbed to her injuries. Funeral services for Ms. Doris Parker were held at 11 a.m. Saturday,
October 22 at the P.E.D.S. Ministry Super Natural Church in Sylvania.
Family members describe Doris as a beautiful person who loved cooking and talking. She is
survived by her husband of 41 years, Richard Dean Parker. Three sons; Donthel, Rictez and
RaQuelle and one daughter; Corinthia. As well as a host of other family members.

Our New Home - week 8
Joe Brady
Editor
Y’all we can’t believe it but Orr’s
Construction tells us the end is in
sight. This week saw Brett with
Reddick come check out the heating
and air. With less than a month left,
everything is coming together. Rock
Star Graphics has the signage on
order and Ms. Cecelia is working on
the mural restoration. Next week will
see some paint on the walls and guess
what color again? You guessed it,
Sylvania Times Gray! We hope move
in day will be around Thanksgiving
and we have a lot to be thankful for
this year!

The CDC recommends everyone 6 months and older get a
flu vaccine every season, ideally by the end of October. “It
is important to note that vaccinations after October can still
provide protection during the peak of flu season,” explains
Tiffany Rollins, nurse manager with the Screven County Health
Department.
Flu vaccination can reduce flu illnesses, visits to doctor’s
offices, and missed work and school due to flu, as well as make
symptoms less severe and reduce flu-related hospitalizations and
deaths.
Flu vaccinations are available for everyone 6 months and older,
including high dose flu vaccine for adults 65 years and older
at the Screven County Health Department, Ross Drugs, and
Walgreens. Appointments are available and walk-ins accepted.
Rollins explains, “The health department will offer extended
hours every Thursday until 6:30 PM for the month of October.”
Ross Drugs may be reached by dialing 912-564-7002. “In the
past month, we have administered over two hundred flu vaccines.
If you don’t mind a few minutes wait, we gladly accept walk-ins, as
well as all major insurance, Medicare, • See FLU page 6
