Page 14 - Wednesday, November 2, 2022 The Sylvania Times thesy lvaniatimes .com GOP gathers at Cadillac Ranch Jake Gay Reporter Republicans gathered from across the district last Thursday evening at the Cadillac Ranch for the Annual Middle 12th District GOP BBQ. Those counties encompassing the 12th district are Columbia(Partial), Richmond, Burke, Jenkins, Coffee, Jeff Davis ,Truetlen, Laurens, Wheeler, Montgomery, Appling, Toombs, Effingham(partial), Evans, Tattnall, Candler, Bulloch, Emanuel and our wonderful county of Screven. The night kicked off with chairman Stephen Hammond welcoming everyone, and honoring Mr. Bernard Brown with the Chairman’s Award for allowing the Screven County GOP to use his building regularly for the monthly meetings. William Harris was the other keynote speaker. Mr. Harris is running for State House seat 126 which is which is Jenkins, Burke and Richmond Counties. The other 3 speakers were State Senator Max Burns, State House Majority Leader Jon Burns and Congressman Rick Allen of the US House of Representatives in which he represents District 12. Governor Kemp received praise for his management of the state during the pandemic by keeping businesses afloat while keeping the state safe. Fall Festival Rock, Paper, Scissors Contest Sarah Saxon Reporter During the Sylvania downtown fall festival, a rock, paper, scissors game was played. Around 20 plus kids participated in teams of two, and after it was all over Trenton Burke was awarded $50 in chamber bucks that can be spent at any business that is a member of the chamber of commerce.
