Those members were: Brier Creek Chapter, Don Bazemore, Lee Herron, Allen Mincey and Wiregrass Chapter, Wilder Smith, Jr., Steve Burke, Dess Smith III. The event started in the parking lot of the Coastal Heritage Society's Tricentennial Park, Savannah History Museum, at 7:00 a.m. with the Battlefield Memorial March to the old Savannah/Augusta Road, turn east and march toward the Spring Hill redoubt to honor those who fought, fell, and sacrificed for our freedom. The battle was one of the bloodiest of the war. The actual tally for the Franco-American forces was 244 killed, nearly 600 wounded and 120 taken prisoner while the British casualties were comparatively light: 40 killed, 63 wounded and 52 missing. Three currently existing Army National Guard units (118th FA GaARNG), 131st MP, 263rd ADA are derived from American units that participated in the siege of Savannah. While marching up the road we heard cannon and musket fire and formed at the redoubt for the event ceremony. After several greetings were given and approximately 20 wreaths presented, the Savannah unit of the Sons of the Revolution fired 3 volleys with their flintlocks. We then were served a very good breakfast at the museum. f Lot for Sale ^ Town of Hiltonia The Town of Hiliertf* Ls hid* on 3 sopite ]oc* within the lawn limits of EIiILoliLdt Pfopsily iletcrjplLoii fi; RaHding im! tlial tertiiin pari of l>il 3, Lot 4, wl Lot 5 eon Mining fl.48 UHt more or Iass, Parcel No. 0&1AQO5II. Screven County Schools Fall Break Week of November 21, 2022 Christmas Extravaganza “A Victorian Christmas” Saturday, December 10 3-7 p.m. Downtown Sylvania A word from Rep. Jon Burns Jon Bums Special Contributor Early voting for the General Election has started and will continue until Friday, November 4. Election Day is Tuesday, November 8. With plenty of days left to vote, please take time to review your ballot before heading to the polls. You can find information on My Voter’s Page and important dates here: https://www. friendsofj onburns. com/electioninfo. Your ballot will include four questions that require your vote. Here is a rundown of those questions: Constitutional Amendments 1. "Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended so as to suspend the compensation of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, State School Superintendent, Commissioner of Insurance, Commissioner of Agriculture, Commissioner of Labor, or any member of the General Assembly while such individual is suspended from office following indictment for a felony?" a. This amendment would address a loophole in the Georgia Constitution by suspending the salary for any statewide elected official who is indicted for a felony dealing with the office he or she holds. I URGE YOU TO VOTE “YES” ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 1. 2. "Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended so as to provide that the governing authority of each county, municipality, and consolidated government and the board of education of each independent and county school system in this state shall be authorized to grant temporary tax relief to properties within its jurisdiction which are severely damaged or destroyed as a result of a disaster and located within a nationally declared disaster area?" a. This amendment would allow local governments to grant property tax relief for properties damaged or destroyed in a disaster, giving more flexibility to relieve the burdens faced by residents as they rebuild their property. I URGE YOU TO VOTE “YES” ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 2. Referendums A. "Shall the Act be approved which grants a state-wide exemption from all ad valorem taxes for certain equipment used by timber producers in the production or harvest of timber?" a. This legislation would ensure that Georgia’s forestry community benefits from the same tax provisions as other agricultural sectors, providing long-term protections to keep this industry viable for generations to come. I URGE YOU TO VOTE “YES” ON REFERENDUM A. B. "Shall the Act be approved which expands a state-wide exemption from ad valorem taxes for agricultural equipment and certain farm products held by certain entities to include entities comprising two or more family-owned farm entities, and which adds dairy products and unfertilized eggs of poultry as qualified farm products with respect to such exemption?" a. This legislation would ensure that current tax provisions designed to keep farms viable continue to protect today’s family-owned agricultural enterprises. I URGE YOU TO VOTE “YES” ON REFERENDUM B. As you practice your constitutional right to vote during this election, please reach out with any questions concerning the questions on your ballot.
