Rec. Dept holds 42nd Annual Turkey Bowl
Jake Gay
Reporter
Tuesday night future Gamecocks from the Screven County Recreation Department suited
up to take the field at Kelly Memorial Stadium for the 42nd Annual Turkey Bowl.
The annual turkey bowl is the last matchups of the year between all the teams. The
ages for these young athletes are 7-8 which is the mighty mites, 9-10 which is the mites
and then the midgets are the 3rd and final league at 11-12. There were touchdown runs
by Kayden Brannen of the Steelers coached by Chris “Stump” Torres. In that same game
there was a TD ran by Waylon Brown of the Steelers and an interception by Mason Dickey
of the Eagles coached by Tracy Childers. There were great passes by Max Right of the
Eagles as well. Jordan Torres of the Steelers always seemed to be right where the ball was,
making a few tackles. Other notable plays in this same league were a scoop and score by
Savion Roberts of the Jaguars and a perfectly executed read option by Terry Lamonte Jr.
The 11-12-year-olds finished the night, and the Jets were firing on all cylinders. Those
boys were coached by Eskew Roberts and Logan Smith. The Jets, though normally Jets
are airborne, found success by pounding the rock. With TD runs by quarterback William
Roberts, RB James Roberts and Aidan Jackson. This team was well rounded, because
they featured a very stout defense, the play of the game though may have been the tip drill

The holiday season is gearing
up, with holiday decorating,
and buying or making gifts
demanding so much time from
everyone! Come and escape
to somewhere that you can
relax and take a deep breath
before going back into the
fray. Whether you want a light
romance, a chilling thriller, a
cookbook for the holiday feasts,
or a book on how to manage
your stress, we’ve got it here and
ready for you to check out!
A great way to occupy the
kids while the adults are busy is to give them something to do - like our Crafts to
Go! If they would rather be with friends, then come to the library on Wednesdays
at 3:30 pm for our craft times, when they can make their crafts right here in the
library!
Another good thing for the little ones to do here at the library is to come to our
story times on Tuesdays at 3:30 pm. We will read them a wonderful story and
then show them how to make a craft related to the story.
The library will be closed November 24, 25, and 26 for Thanksgiving. We will
reopen on Monday, November 28. Make sure that you are well-stocked on reading
or viewing material for the long weekend!

Ammerman is at home in the snows of Snowdrift
Summit, the Colorado resort her family has run for
decades, so she’s perfectly comfortable teaching
visitors how to improve their skiing skills. But
when TV star Zach Ryder asks her to teach him to
ski The Plunge, one of the most dangerous runs in
Colorado, she finds herself in a dilemma - can she stay
professional and teach him what he needs to know,
or will she slip up and reveal she’s his biggest fan? Or
worse, will she make the biggest mistake of all and fall
in love with him?
Well, that’s all for now - see you at the library!
