__On November 26 at approximately
9:45 p.m., a police officer was on
routine patrol around the areas of South
1 Main Street and Academy Street, he
■ noticed a vehicle, without a headlight
and without taillights.
The officer initiated a traffic stop
as the suspect turned down Dixie
Avenue. The officer then took note of a
j second vehicle failing to stop at Dixie
^ Avenue and Peachtree Circle. The
1 Chevy Cavalier and the Chevy Impala
j. attempted to flee at speeds more than
Jj 60 mph toward South Main Street
and disregarded the stop sign at South
Main and Isabelle Street.

into a cotton field where the suspect
was apprehended.
The driver, Travion L. Clark, 17, of

On November 20, at
approximately7:20 p.m., a report
of burglary was reported by the
Screven County Animal Shelter
located on Rocky Ford Road.
It was later reported that Vince
Cleo Copeland, 40, an inmate of
the Screven County Correctional
Institute was arrested for escape,
theft by taking, burglary (Felony)
2nd Degree, and 2 counts of
interference w/govemment
property (Felony).
Copeland, a trustee who had been
assigned to the animal shelter, was
scheduled for release on November
28 and was possibly under the
influence of narcotics during the
event.
“The suspect escaped from the prison and broke into the secured building,
damaging the locks and doors of the building and surveillance cameras. The
suspect also took a cell phone and the keys to a truck, struck a gate, and crashed,”
explained Screven County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Allen Anderson.
He then tried to cover his tracks and went back to the correctional institute where
he was later arrested.

driven byKayson Michael Faulk, 18, of
1 Rocky Ford. He was taken into custody
* and arrested for nine charges, including
possession of firearms by a minor,
possession of marijuana (less than one
ounce), too fast for conditions, DUI

(Drugs), fleeing/attempting to elude,
^ failure to maintain lane, failure to stop,
no taillights and headlights required.
Faulk also had a firearm on him which
was also recovered. Faulk later stated,
“that he got scared and because he had
^ a gun in the car, panicked and fled.” He
was arrested for fleeing/attempting to
elude police along with other charges,

searching for missing person

As the holidays quickly approach, law enforcement is
still searching for Ricky Green. Mr. Green disappeared
from his home on Hendrix Street in Millen on Nov. 2,
2022. “Somebody knows something regarding Ricky’s
disappearance. We are asking for the surrounding
communities’ assistance in helping us locate him,” Jenkins
County Sheriff Robert Oglesby asked. Ricky “Esco” Green
is a 38-year-old white male, approximately s’6” tall and
weighing 160 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes
with several tattoos including a neck tattoo and the word
“loyalty” tattooed on his right hand. Sheriff Oglesby goes
on to say, “if you know of Mr. Green’s whereabouts, please
contact the Sheriff s office at 478-982-4211 or the Millen
Police Department 478-982-2750. This story was previously

The Screven County Garden Club’s annual Christmas Decorating Contest will be held on Thursday,
December 15, 2022. The judging will be from 4:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. Homes and churches
within the City of Sylvania will be judged on that day. Participants are asked to leave porch lights
and other lighting on during the time of judging. Participants are free to decorate as they interpret
the spirit of Christmas.
