Rocky Ford Town Council Bids Farewell
to Retiring Members

At the December meeting of the Rocky Ford Town
Council, town staff and elected officials came together
to bid a fond farewell to two esteemed council members
who will be retiring as of December 31, 2023. Bennie
Daughtry, with eight years of dedicated service, and
Althea Durden, who has served for four years, were
honored for their unwavering commitment to the
community.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the town. Mayor Ken
Mock said, "We want to thank you for supporting the
needs of our community, and we wish y'all all the best."
The sentiments echoed in the room as fellow council
members and attendees acknowledged the significant
contributions of Daughtry and Durden, recognizing the
impact they have made during their respective tenures.
As these two individuals step down from their roles,
the Rocky Ford Town Council eagerly anticipates the
infusion of new energy and perspectives. Melissa Smith
and Pastor Wayne Bragg are set to be sworn in as the
new council members during the upcoming meeting on
January 9, 2024.
The transition marks a new chapter for the town, with
the incoming council members bringing fresh ideas and
perspectives to the table. The community looks forward to the leadership and vision that Smith and Pastor
Bragg will bring to the council as they assume their responsibilities in the service of Rocky Ford.
As the Rocky Ford Town Council bids farewell to retiring members and welcomes new faces, there is a
sense of continuity and evolution—a testament to the ongoing dedication to the town's growth and prosperity.
The January 9 meeting holds the promise of not only recognizing the past contributions but also embracing the
potential of a dynamic and collaborative future for Rocky Ford.

Santa visits Head Start
Sheriff Mike Kile brought Santa, who was in town
for a short break to the Head Start Program and
handed out gifts to all the good little girls and boys.

We had a blast with 30 students at our
Cloverleaf Ugly Sweater Christmas Party!! The
winner of this year's ugly Christmas sweater
contest was Addison Taylor, 5th Grade student
fromSCES!!
Thank you to Allyssa Jenkins (10th Grade
SCHS), Ariel Mincey (8th Grade SCMS),
Ayden Nash (7th Grade Homeschool), and
Diya Patel (9th Grade SCHS) for teen leading
to help us make this party a success!

Princess & Prince Pageant

The Screven County High School Auditorium transformed into a
magical wonderland on Thursday, Dec. 7, playing host to the enchanting
2023 Winter Princess & Prince Pageant. With the theme set as "The
Twelve Days of Christmas," attendees were treated to an evening of
festive cheer and dazzling performances.
The stage was graced by a talented lineup of contestants, each
sponsored by local businesses that added to the community spirit. The
roster included Riley Landing (Sylvania Sportsman), Dianne Stills
(Camille’s), Ella Webb (Lazy D Quarter Horses), Makayla Beaupre
(Brown Electric), Sierra Beaupre (Brown Electric), Mikayla Green
(Heritage Insurance), Victoria Williams (Brown Electric), Elijah Joe
Hughes (Brown Electric), Ashton Williams (Brown Electric), Robert
Gillespie (Bank of Newington), and Sincere Green (SCMS FFA).
The contestants showcased a diverse array of talents, from singing
heartwarming tunes to showcasing athletic skills like hitting a ball off
a tee and bouncing a basketball. The audience was left in awe by the
impressive displays of skill and creativity.
The atmosphere reached a crescendo with a mesmerizing performance
by Maggie’s Academy of Dance, paving the way for the contestants to
grace the stage in their elegant formal wear. As anticipation filled the air,
Miss Ashlee Siegesmund stole the spotlight with her beautiful rendition of
"Mary Did You Know," captivating the hearts of everyone in attendance.
The crowning moment arrived, accompanied by Miss FFA Scout Black
presenting each contestant with flowers and a sash. The crowns were
delicately placed on their heads by Miss Screven County Livestock,
Emma Warren, creating a truly regal atmosphere.
The Winter Princess winners were announced, with Riley Landing
claiming the title of Best Christmas PJ’s, Ella Webb securing the Best
Talent award, Makayla Beaupre dazzling in Best Formal Wear, Mikayla
Green awarded Prettiest Eyes, Dianne Stills recognized for Prettiest
Hair, Victoria Williams shining with Prettiest Smile, and Sierra Beaupre
earning the title of Most Outstanding.
The Winter Prince category witnessed Robert Gillespie winning Best
Christmas PJ’s, Elijah Joe Hughes showcasing the Best Talent, Ashton
Williams exuding excellence in Best Formal Wear, Elijah Brownlee
earning the title of Friendliest, and Sincere Green standing out as the
Most Outstanding Prince.
As the evening concluded, the community basked in the warmth of
shared joy and celebrated the spirit of the season. The Winter Princess &
Prince Pageant once again proved to be a delightful showcase of talent,
elegance, and the vibrant spirit of Sylvania, Georgia.
