Freya make the most memorable moment at a wedding For this up coming new year, I would like to share with you the store of Bailey and his new friend Nathan. You see, when the young boy Nathan was eight, he had to have surgery, so his parents bought him a stuffed pug and named him “stuffie” for comfort. Nathan fell in love with the breed and for years wished that we could have a real pug- So that Nathan would be motivated in school, his parents promised him a pug if he were to graduate with honors. On the day of his high school commencement, Nathan received his diploma and his parent learned that he had indeed made the honor roll and also received a big scholarship award. His smile was huge as he walked down the aisle towards the podium to pick up his diploma. After receiving his diploma, he let everyone know right then and there “I’m getting a pug!” Nathan’s pug is named Bailey, she is so full of energy and loves to mn really fast with other dogs at the park. It’s not quite what they had expected from a pug! It was better than they thought! Bailey is a very loyal companion who follows them everywhere they go. Rides in the car with them, has her own special place on the couch, and also really loves Nathan and sleeps with him in his bed. (when he is home from college) The family cannot imagine their lives without her as she has brought all of them so much joy. What a wonderful story for the new year. If you have ever given a thought of adopting a pet, now is a good time. Just visit your local shelter and start enjoying life with a new addition to the family. A big round of a-paws for Bailey! Morgan Optim Primary Care What is the Whine in the Spine Neighbors, low back pain is a prevalent health issue affecting people of all ages and lifestyles. Almost everyone will have at least one episode of lower back pain in their lifetime. Whether you're at a desk for long hours, lifting heavy objects, or leading an athletic lifestyle, your lower back is susceptible to various problems. Muscle Strains and Sprains: Muscle strains and sprains are among the most common causes of low back pain. These injuries often result from sudden movements, improper lifting techniques, or poor posture. Overuse of the muscles can also contribute to strain. Maintaining good posture, lifting your legs, and engaging in regular strength and flexibility exercises for leg and core muscles are helpful for back health. Herniated Discs: A herniated disc occurs when the soft inner core of a spinal disc protmdes through its tough outer layer. This can irritate nearby nerves, leading to pain, numbness, or weakness in the lower back and legs. Factors such as age, genetics, and poor lifting habits can contribute to disc herniation. Treatment may include physical therapy, medication, and sometimes surgery. Degenerative Disc Disease: Over time, the discs in the spine may naturally wear down, a condition known as degenerative disc disease. This can cause chronic low back pain, stiffness, and reduced flexibility. While the aging process contributes to this condition, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, staying physically active, and avoiding smoking can help slow down the degeneration. Spinal Stenosis: Spinal stenosis occurs when the spinal canal narrows, putting pressure on the spinal cord and nerves. This can result in pain, numbness, and weakness in the lower back and legs. Age, arthritis, and genetic factors can contribute to spinal stenosis. Treatment options may include medications, physical therapy, and sometimes surgery. Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction: The sacroiliac joint, located at the base of the spine, can become dysfunctional, causing pain and discomfort. Pregnancy, trauma, or degenerative conditions can contribute to sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Treatment often involves physical therapy, chiropractic care, specific exercises to stabilize the joint and injections. Regardless of the type of low back pain, maintaining a healthy body weight, avoiding tobacco smoke, participating in routine and regular exercise, and practicing good posture are all healthy habits for a better back.
