It’s hard to be as active as we would like when it’s nearly freezing outside. Within the last few weeks, I came across an interesting article that highlights how powerful moving can be m terms of lowering blood pressure and blood sugar. It is an original research article published last January that investigated the effects of breaking up sitting with scheduled walking. The researchers divided people into groups of different physical activity levels and measured blood pressure and blood sugar. The interesting thing is the “move” group had participants do light walking either once or twice an hour for one minute or five minutes. This was done over eight hours on five separate days.
