Supervisor Identifies Voter
Registration Issues, Seeks
Redistricting Approval
By Joe Brady, Editor

The Times
Stacy Scott Mincey, the recently appointed Screven County Elections
Supervisor and Chief Registrar, addressed the Board with alarming
findings regarding voter registration discrepancies affecting hundreds
of registered voters in the county. Mincey revealed that a significant
number of voters were facing issues such as being assigned to the
correct district but with the wrong or no polling place, being assigned
to the wrong district, or being in the correct district but assigned to
the wrong municipality for municipal voting. The newly appointed
official sought the Board's pemiission to initiate a comprehensive
"redistricting" plan to rectify the errors.
The revelation comes amid concerns related to the rollout of
Georgia's new GARVIS (Georgia Registered Voter Information
System) program. Mincey highlighted the urgency of addressing
the problem, emphasizing the need for a prompt solution to ensure
accurate representation and access to voting resources for all eligible
residents.
In an explanation to The Times, Mincey expressed particular concern
about the timing of the issue. To mitigate the impact on affected
voters, she assured that individuals would receive notification cards
detailing the correct information. However, the exact timeframe for
the distribution of these cards remains uncertain.
For affected voters seeking immediate clarification, Mincey provided
several avenues of contact, “Voters can reach out to the Registrar's
Office by calling 912-564-2153, check their My Voters Page (MVP),
