Place potatoes in a 9x13 casserole dish and layer with beef mixture, beans and cabbage. Pour tomato soup evenly on top and bake at 350 for one hour. JUNKYARD FRUIT SALAD 1 can cherry pie filling 1 large, crushed pineapple, drained 1 condensed milk 2 cups miniature marshmallows 2 cups chopped pecans 1 8 oz cool whip Mix all ingredients and refrigerate overnight. WOOLWORTH CHEESECAKE 1 small lemon jello 1 cup boiling water 3 cups graham cracker crumbs 1 stick melted butter 8 oz softened cream cheese 1 cup sugar 5 Tbs lemon juice 1 can chilled evaporated milk 1 small carton heavy cream Dissolve Jello in hot water. Let cool and thicken. Mix 3/4 of crackers with butter and press into bottom of pan to form crust. Beat evaporated milk and heavy cream until thick and fluffy. In another bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and lemon juice until smooth. Add Jello to whipped milk and mix well. Spread over graham cracker crust; then sprinkle with the rest of cracker crumbs. On Friday evening, September 27, a mixer will take place at the home of Charles Reed on Cork Pond Road in Sylvania. Food and refreshments will be available. The approximate time will be 6-10 p.m. Saturday, September 28, the class will have a catered luncheon and program at the First Baptist Church social center. The approximate time will be 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. All class members are encouraged to contact Jackie Boyd Clifton at 912-425-0000 or June Jones Forehand by email at gforehand@planters.net The next meeting of the reunion committee will be held on May 13 and chaired by class president Elliot Hagan. Students in Adam Bazemore's Economics class compete against high school students all over the state in the Stock Market Game each year. SCHS students Seth Axsiom, Jacob Nesmith, Erica Gladney, and Caleb Cosey are the Spring 2024 Stock Market Game winners for the 12th Congressional District of Georgia. They are also the Rural Division winners for the state. For ten weeks, they invested $100,000, and ended with $122,956.33 in equity, beating the S&P 500 by 19.63%. The team will be honored by the Georgia Council on Economic Education at the SMG Awards Luncheon on May 9 at the famous Fox Theatre in Atlanta. The following students were inducted into the Rebecca H. Martin Chapter of the National Elementary Honor Society. A membership in the NEHS is an honor bestowed on individuals selected for the accomplishments in the field of English and overall academic achievement the student must have completed an equivalent of two semesters of English prior to the induction as members and their achievement of a minimum overall and an English grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent standard of excellence prior to induction as members. Osteoporosis occurs when the creationofnewbone doesn't keep up with the removal of old bone. As a result, bones become weak and brittle, increasing the risk of fractures. Several factors contribute to its development, including hormonal changes (especially in menopause), inadequate calcium and vitamin D intake, sedentary lifestyle, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and certain medications. In its early stages, osteoporosis might not present any noticeable symptoms. However, as the condition progresses, individuals may experience back pain, loss of height over time, stooped posture, and increased susceptibility to fractures, particularly in the hip, spine, and wrist. Prevention is key to managing osteoporosis. This includes adopting a bone-healthy lifestyle, such as engaging in regular weight-bearing exercises, consuming a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D, avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, and maintaining a healthy body weight. For those already diagnosed with osteoporosis, treatment focuses on slowing down bone loss and reducing the risk of fractures. Medications are an option to strengthen bones and improve bone density. In addition to medication, healthcare providers often recommend lifestyle modifications and fall prevention strategies to minimize the risk of fractures. Regular monitoring through bone density tests helps track the progression of osteoporosis and assess the effectiveness of treatment. Early detection and intervention are crucial in managing osteoporosis and preventing debilitating fractures. By understanding its causes, recognizing symptoms, and implementing preventive measures and appropriate treatments, individuals can effectively manage osteoporosis and maintain bone health for a better quality of life. Alleged Drug Site Burns, Cause Under Investigation Sarah Saxon, Reporter On Saturday, April 20, Sylvania Fire Department responded to a camper that had caught on fire in the alley way located between Ogeechee Street and Curtis Street. This was the second time in two years that a camper at this location, which was primarily used for drugs, had been set on fire.
