LOS NINOS PRIMERO NAMES EXEMPLARY YOUTH VOLUNTEERS

and Emily Demps as two
exemplary youth volun
teers for 2019.

at The Weber School in

my of Science, Technolo
gy, Engineering, and De
sign.
This year, Slom
ka partnered with the
teachers and adminis
tration of Los Ninos Prim
ero’s Early Literacy Program. Slom
ka has worked alongside both teachers
and students to design, prototype, cus
tomize and manufacture hands-on ac
tivities and educational kits to intro
duce students at Los Ninos Primero to
the elements of STEM.
Emily Demps is a junior at North
Atlanta High School. Demps has re
ceived the Gold President’s Volunteer
Service Award for her 800-plus vol
unteer hours, which includes serv
ing as a Transit Small Group leader at
Buckhead Church/North Point Min
istries, regional co-leader for Samari
tan Purse’s Operation Christmas Child
gift-giving and evangelism program,
and as a volunteer teaching assistant
at Los Ninos Primero.
Demps is also a math tutor at Math-
nasium and an assistant coach for Tsu
nami Volleyball Club. Emily plans to
incorporate her volunteer opportunities
at Los Ninos Primero into her International Baccalaureate graduation project
