EDUCATION GUIDE “I have studied Hebrew for three years to connect with my Jewish roots, and I am currently in my fifth year of Spanish. I believe it is important for me to learn Spanish because it is one of the most spoken languages worldwide, and in the future, being bilingual will be very beneficial in my career. As the world becomes more closely connected, it is important to be able to communicate with people whose first language is not English. ” Lauren Rem, The Weber School “I do study a foreign language - two actually, German and Spanish. German I was born with (I lived in Germany for seven years) and my school allowed me to continue German from primary to high school. I picked up Spanish in the eighth grade as a choice; I was allowed to either continue Latin or pick Spanish or French. I believe that foreign languages are important because they can help people communicate and immerse themselves in new cultures.” Fellpa Schmidt Atlanta International School “My language of study in school is Mandarin Chinese. I chose to study Chinese because I have always been interested in Chinese culture and the language itself. Mandarin is such a unique language, and I’ve always known that I wanted to explore more into Chinese culture, ever since I went to China for the first time when I was 6 years old. In my opinion, Chinese is such a valuable language to learn because of China’s recent rise in world stature. We have so many more opportunities to interact with China now, and we will have even more in the future. So, I think learning Chinese is becoming one of the most useful languages to know.” Aggie Fncke, Lorett School HI The Howard School 1192 Foster Street, NW ■ Atlanta, GA 30318 ■ 404.377.7436 *Without The Howard School, I would not he the same person that I am today” - Howard student Educating students with language learning disabilities and differences 5 years old through 12th grade how extraordinary! howardschool.org cjxs\ (i) build <x s\£i/j Model m tajee os -£rv>*f fcre io fkere? r 7 Inquiry is fueled by curiosity and discovery.
