the people that supported the write-in effort,”
he said. “We couldn’t be more pleased with
the effort everyone put forth.”
Wilson said he is glad that the election
“turned out the way it did” and that it’s over.
He doesn’t have a problem with his oppo
nent or the fact that he ran, Wilson said, but
he didn’t see the value in what he perceived
to be negative ads.
“I didn’t like the sort of negative ads,” he
said. “Maybe I shouldn’t have taken it per
sonally, but 1 did. He said I let the people
down in District 4 and I didn’t appreciate
that. My daughter read it and asked me what
he was talking about.”
Wilson said he has shown during his can
didacy that he doesn’t “believe in all that
negative stuff’ and that he thinks running a
clean campaign is important when seeking a
public office.
As for Watters’ remarks about Wilson not
communicating well with his constituents,
Wilson said h'e has always made himself
available to the citizens of District 4 and of
Carroll County as a whole. In fact, he was
the first commissioner in the county to put
his phone number and email address on the
county website.
“If somebody calls me from my district, I
answer it,” he' said. “I’d rather talk to some
one directly than to do it through email, but if
someone emails me I am glad to respond that
way as well.” *
Wilson said he appreciates the people in
District 4 who went to the polls to Cast a vote
for him.
“I want to say thank you,” he said. “We’re
going to keep on doing what we’ve been
doing and go from there.”
