The budget allows for the hiring of two police officers, returning the department to full staff. According to Chief of Police Tim Shaw, these additions should reduce the overtime expense, which was almost double the budgeted amount for last year. Currently, the department has eight officers—two per shift. If anyone is out sick or on vacation, in order to cover the shift, overtime results.
