Carrollton Housing
Authority’s
abstinence
education program

The Carrollton Housing
Authority has been awarded
funding through the Governor’s
Office of Children and Families
for abstinence until marriage
education services for commu
nity youth.
This new funding, $100,000
for a nine month period, will
allow the housing authority to
“continue providing abstinence
education and other youth
development services in and
around low socioeconomic
neighborhoods, to community
schools, churches and other
youth serving organizations,”
according to AEP Coordinator,
Brandolynn Marenco.”
The Abstinence Education
Program (AEP), formed 1998,
recently lost its primary source
of funding to over 700 youth.

pass educational SPLOST on March 15

The League of Women Voters
hosted Carroll County Schools
Superintendent Scott Cowart and
Carrollton City Schools
Superintendent Kent Edwards at
their regular meeting on Feb 28.
The two presented a case in favor
of the educational SPLOST tax,
E-SPLOST IV, which is to be
voted on March 15.
Both school systems would
benefit greatly if the referendum
