The Bowdon SERTOMA Club
Sertoma stands for SERvice TO
MAnkind. The organization’s primary
focus is on assisting people with speech
and hearing health issues and educating
the public on the issues surrounding
hearing health. Sertoma has 20,000-plus
members in more than 600 clubs across
Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the
United States.
Every year Sertoma clubs raise more
than $20 million for local community
service projects. Through these projects,
as well as grants and scholarships,
Sertoma clubs return those funds to their
respective communities - and they have
lots of fun doing it while building life-

Through the donations of the sponsors
and patrons of the Concert Series, the
Bowdon Sertoma Club has provided
Bowdon High School students with
annual scholarships to University of
West Georgia and West Georgia
Technical College. They also fund Drug
Awareness programs in local schools, and
other educational projects in the Bowdon
area.
Annually, the club donates about
$10,000 to the local community.
Their primary fundraiser is the annual
Bowdon Sertoma Concert Series. The
2011 concert series features; Tony Rice
Unit - January 20; Dailey & Vincent -
March 11; Suzy Bogguss - May 12; Kurt
Thomas featuring Barry Waldrep - July
21; The Grascals - November 11.
The club meets the second Thursday
of every month (excluding concert
months) at The Meeting Place at 6:00 pm
in Bowdon. Anyone is welcome, and a
light meal is provided. Dues are $135 per
year.
