The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7404

The Veterans of Foreign War (VFW)
Post 7404 in Carrollton serves as a strong
force in the local community, taking part
in assisting others, with a focus on aiding
war veterans.
Established in 1984, Post 7404 meets
the second Thursday of every month at 7
p.m. There are currently 452 members
on the roster, but a recruiting effort is
underway to attract more members.
The mission of the VFW is “to foster
camaraderie among United States veter
ans of overseas conflicts; to serve our vet
erans, the military, and our communities;

to advocate on behalf of all veterans.”
Lisa Johnson, who holds two elected
positions, Judge Advocate and Adjutant
General, and was appointed General
Counsel by the Post Commander, said
post 7404 is a special place that does have
a strong comraderie among its members.
Johnson is the only active female mem
ber currently on the roster.
“As a post with a group of veterans
that spans across several wars, we look to
not only support the soldiers currently
fighting in everyway possible but most
importantly we have the first hand
knowledge to understand what is impor
tant to our communities war veterans,”
said Johnson.
Jim Parham, post commander, said the
members of post 7404, no matter what
they’ve seen or experienced, during war
time, have lighthearted fun and conversa
tions when they gather. He said they can
understand each other in ways those who
haven’t served in a war can’t.
The facility that houses Post 7404 is
located on Bankhead Highway in
Carrollton . It is the location of the West
Georgia Fairgrounds and in the main
building boasts the largest ballroom facil
ity in West Georgia.
Many events take place at the post,
such as the St Judes Ride and Auction for
charity; Bikers For Boobs breast cancer
fundraising event; Luke Bryant’s Farm
Tour last year; and over the past few
