Georgia
Two-Cylinder
Club, Inc.

The goal of the West Georgia Two-
Cylinder Club, Inc. is to educate the
public about and promote an interest in
the preservation and restoration of
antique tractors.
This 131-member Club founded in
1991 provides college scholarships to
students who want to study agriculture
and related fields.
In addition to restoring and preserving
antique tractors with a focus on two-
cylinder models, the Club promotes the
restoration and preservation of tractor
accessories and related equipment and
their lore and literature.
An activity it will conduct this month
aimed at furthering its goal is a 40 mile,
April 9th loop ride starting at the Ag
Center on Newnan Road in Carrollton.
The loop will include both rural and
urban sections of Carroll County. There
will be stops along the way for picture
taking and answering questions from
onlookers.
Later this month, to help fund its
scholarship program, at its Old Time
Farm Days at the VFW Fairgrounds on
April 16 and 17 the Club will provide
tractor parades, tractor games, children’s
petal tractor races and pulls, and a garden
tractor pull. At this event there will be
vendors of craft and farm-related
products and services and static displays
and interpretive tractor and equipment
demonstrations interspaced with
question and answer periods.
On May 28, 2011 at the Steed Farm in
Carroll County, the Club will hold the
West Georgia Two-Cylinder Club and
Steed Farm Tractor Pull and Show.
Although it is similar to their
aforementioned big show in April, this is
a “slow pull” tractor pull. Featured will
be a “show tractor” contest, equipment
demonstrations, and craft and food
vendors. From the Club’s trailer visitors
can get answers to any questions they
may have.
In a tractor pull, competing tractors
pull heavy sledges along a track. The
winner is the tractor that pulls its sledge
the farthest. Today an organized sport
Known as the world’s most powerful
motorsport, its origin lies in farmers in
the past claiming that their horse could
pull a heavier load than their neighbors’
horses could.
As they have in the past, Club
members will drive their tractors in
Carrollton’s Fourth of July Parade.
Anticipated is that, as has been true in
the past, after the parade is over
spectators will cluster around the
tractors asking questions. Another
annual event the Club will continue to
participate in is the October Ag Heritage
Days at the Ag Center where for two
days nearly 1,000 4th graders and for one
day the general public will learn from
and enjoy farm-related exhibits.
