Election season opens Aug. 26th:
qualifying begins for numerous
seats in six of the county’s cities
2013 millage rates for
county, cities, schools

Six of Carroll County’s seven
cities will have open seats this
year. (Roopville has no open
seats this year.) Candidates who
wish to run for office will need to
qualify. Qualifying for these
municipal offices will open
Mon., Aug. 26th and close Wed.,
Aug. 28. Hours of qualifying are
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and will be
held in the Carroll County
Elections building, 423 College
Street, Carrollton. The elections
will be held Nov. 5th. The last
day to register to vote in the
November Election is Oct. 7th.

Mobley murder:
five in custody

Five suspects have now been
arrested in the robbery of Mobley
Company Jewelers, Inc. and the
murder of owner Mitch Mobley
that occurred in Villa Rica,
Georgia, on Wednesday, June 26,

WGTC “Athletics Golf Classic”

West Georgia Technical
College officials are getting ready
to host the 3rd Annual WGTC
Athletics Golf Classic to benefit
the Golden Knights baseball pro
gram. This year’s event will take
place Friday, August 23 at the
West Pines Golf Club in
Douglasville beginning at 11 a.m.
Golf teams comprised of four
people will compete in a Fort
Lauderdale scramble format,
meaning each player tees off on
each hole. The best of the tee
shots is selected and all players
play their second shots from that
spot. The best of the second shots
is determined, and then all play
their third shots from that spot.
