“Rob” Arnold,
age 68, Aragon,
Georgia, died
suddenly Friday,
September 20,
2013.
Known as
“RW in the
Morning” - and as RW to many
friends and fans - Rob worked in
radio broadcasting throughout
northwest and west Georgia
including the cities of Rockmart,
Rome, Calhoun, Cartersville and
Carrollton. RW’s daily morning

Faith-based Oak
Mountain Academy
enrollment up 30%
over last year

Oak Mountain Academy is a
local independent, faith based
school. When comparing numbers
with other Carroll County schools,
OMA could be considered petite.
However, a popular slogan around
on campus is “We may be small,
but we do big things.” Last spring,
the school began a program called
“Welcome Wednesdays” in hopes
to draw in more families from the
community at large.
Every Wednesday, from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m., the school holds a mini
open house. Though the doors are
always open to the public,
Welcome Wednesdays are a time
when families can drop by on a
non-formal basis and get a full
tour. Interested families gather in
the advancement office, meet

fifth annual Halloween Heyday

starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at

SPLOST which ceases March
2015. If voters choose this
November to continue the county
SPLOST tax, it will run five years
until March 2020.

to expand: 19

Temple council and
mayor approve a
raise for themselves

Ashbrook Village, a Villa Rica
assisted and independent living
facility at 75 Herrell Road, has
begun construction of Phase II,
consisting of a sixteen bed, mem
ory impaired care center and six
independent living cottages. The
impaired memory unit will have a
great room containing television,
a fireplace, and activity areas.
