In 2012, United States filed a
case against the State of Georgia
and its Secretary of State, Brian
Kemp, for a violation of the
Uniformed and Overseas
Citizens Absentee Voting Act of
1986. This act requires ballots be
mailed to overseas citizens/voters
at least 45 days before an elec
tion. The 21 days between a pri
mary election in July in Georgia
and any runoff in August made it
impossible to meet that time

Timothy Hill first day as city
manager of Temple was
Tuesday, December 16,2013.
Hill has a Master’s Degree in
Public Administration from
Valdosta State College and four
and a half years’ experience in
city government. He was town
manager in Greenville, Florida;
deputy mayor in Minneola,
Florida; and city manager in
Nashville, Georgia. Hill also
worked for the State of Georgia
in the Department of Family and
Children Services. Altogether, he
has a total of seven years in gov
ernment work and grant writing.
Before coming to the area,
Hill was selling Christian books
and Bibles for Rollins Pilot, Inc.
Trojan football

the Carrollton Trojans football
program for 12 seasons, has
announced plans to retire this
spring. Teague came to
Carrollton in 2002. Under his
leadership, the Trojans compiled
a record of 127-27, won five

New law may
allow China

to be sold in US

Chicken is mighty big both in
Georgia and Carroll County.
Georgia is the nation’s chicken
capital, and Carroll County was
the state’s 7th largest producer of
broilers in 2012. In 2007, livestock
sales accounted for 98% of the
market value of Carroll’s farm
products, and 92% of these sales
were accounted for by poultry and
eggs. Meat accounts for 39% of
Georgia’s agricultural exports.
China recently nosed out the
United States as the world’s largest
chicken consuming nation.
