February might be the shortest month in the year,
but to the city employees of Temple, it seemed like
the longest. During the first city council meeting
held on February 3, the council and mayor decided
that the 2014 operating budget was invalid, due to
not being passed by ordinance as required by the city
charter. This resulted in Mayor Lester Harmon being
unable to sign checks, including payroll checks.
A series of meetings followed to correct this prob
lem. A work session was held on February 6 at the
Senior Center to deal with the budget. No evidence
was presented to prove it had been properly adver
tised in the legal organ. Council Member Penny
Ransom stated that she had discovered that the copy

Twenty-five youth wrestlers represented the local area at the Georgia State Qualifier at McIntosh
High School Sunday, February 22, 2014. After stiff competition from all age and weight classes, nearly
all went on to compete at the Georgia Dome on Saturday, March 1st for the 2014 Georgia Kids State
