The election for this position will be decided Tuesday, May 24th, as both candidates are Republicans. Early voting begins May 2nd. As a concerned citizen and tax payer, Chappell saw a great need for improvement in the handling of the county government’s business and decided to facilitate the necessary changes when he sought the chairman ship in 2007. He won that year to fill the remaining term of Robert Barr who had resigned. Early voting begins May 2. Former school board repre sentative Bernice Brooks and incumbent Rob Cleveland are competing for the District 1 seat. Cleveland took office in January, 2013 and has decided to seek re-election. He has taught and coached in Carroll County for 17 years before serving on the board for the last four years. Hancock faces two opponents: Doyle Akins and Keith files. Hancock, age 37, is a native of Carroll County, Georgia.
