Central High senior makes state history as first
female to receive U.S Army infantry appointment
Central High School senior, Kaitlynn Bradshaw, made state history when
she enlisted in the United States Army in May. Kaitlynn is the first female to
receive an infantry appointment in the state of Georgia, and only the fourth

council member.

Temple makes repairs to
Villa Rosa Sewer lift station

The Temple City Council authorized the expen
diture of up to $10,000 to complete necessary
improvements to the Villa Rosa Sewer lift station.
The improvements will allow the lift station to
handle the volume of sewage and waste water
passing through it. If the current problems were not

will be going to the polls
again for the 2016 Primary
Run-Off on July 26, 2016
to cast their votes for coro
ner and for U.S.
Representative in the 115th
from the 3rd Congressional
District of Georgia.
Still in the race for
coroner are Keith Jiles and
Keith Hancock. Jiles
received 42%, or 2,997
votes, while Hancock
received 37%, or 2,626
votes. Mike Crane and
Drew Ferguson are
competing to fill Lynn
Westmoreland’s seat, who
served from 2007 until his
retirement at the end of his
term in 2016. Crane and
Ferguson each garnered
27% of the vote, with
15,343 being cast for Crane
and 15,277 for Ferguson.

The results of the May 24th, 2016 General Primary, Nonpartisan General, and
Special Runoff Election yielded several clear winners and spawned two runoffs.
Former Villa Rica Mayor J. Collins, who ran on a
platform of doing the “people’s business” won a
term as State House Representative for District 68,
receiving 1,870 votes, or 60.17%. Timothy Bearden
came in second with 1,138 votes, or 36.62%, and
