Carroll County Fire Chief
resigns after five years
Statewide General Election Nov. 6th
Former Heard County Fire Chief Scott Blue
leaves on good terms; no replacement yet

After nearly five years in the position, Scott Blue
has resigned as Carrol County’s fire chief. Blue
leaves behind a good reputation and positive
impact on the department. The county has begun
the search for a candidate to fill the spot.
Blue has a long histoiy as a fire chief Before
making the move to Carroll County Fire/Rescue,
Blue worked for ten years as the chief for Heard
County Fire/EMS and two and a half years as the
fire chief for Worth County.
While the county interviews applicants for the
position, Carroll County EMA Director Tim
Padgett will serve as interim fire chief

Election to determine governor, secretary of state, attorney
general, and commissioners of agriculture and insurance

The November 6 General Election is
around the comer, and it has the potential to
change the current political landscape of
Georgia. A sample ballot is now available
online.
On the ballot, in the Governor’s race,
Republican Brian Kemp is facing
Democratic challenger Stacey Abrams.
Libertarian Ted Metz is also running for the
position.
In the Lieutenant Governor’s race,
Republican Geoff Duncan is facing
Democrat Sarah Riggs Amico.

Comedian Jeff Foxworthy headlines FCA fundraiser
Comedian Jeff Foxworthy was at Midway Church, Villa Rica, Oct. 9th to
headline a fundraiser to benefit the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
Foxworthy, who has conducted a regular Bible Study Class to the homeless in
Atlanta for 12 years, gave the packed house an evening of great humor plus a
spiritual message on his faith in God. Foxworthy is shown above right with Midway

The Carroll County Board of Education,
in an amendment to the current budget,
recently allotted $1,026,311 for school
safety and more school buses. Funds in the
amount of $121,000 will be used to install
the locally owned and developed
S.H.I.E.L.D.™ Lockdown System (Safe
Hallway Interior Emergency Lockdown
Defense) across the school district. This sys
tem is currently in six county schools.
SHIELD has three basic operational
modes: control, soft lockdown, and emer
gency activation. SHIELD electronically
closes and locks school building doors
within 4 to 6 seconds, simultaneously sends
a direct unique alarm message to 911 emer-
