Effective December 31, 2018, Carroll
County Probate Judge Betty Cason is retiring.
Cason was first elected to this position 22
years ago.
A lifelong resident of Carroll County, Cason
worked for the city of Bowdon for a number
of years, eventually becoming Bowdon city

Padgett accepts
position as Carroll
County fire chief

Carroll County Emergency Management
Director, Tim Padgett, who is a well-known
and revered servant of local citizens, has now
been named fire chief, following a brief stint
as interim chief. Padgett is replacing outgoing
chief Scott Blue. However, Padgett will also
continue in his role as EMA director.
Padgett has a lifetime of experience in the
