This is an open bid process and the Secretary’s office encourages all inter ested parties to submit a proposal. Any potential bidders and their representa tives are reminded that all communications regarding the procurement should be made through the Issuing Officer. Other communications with Secretary of State staff are prohibited as described in the Georgia Procurement Miinual Section 4.4.2. Qualifying for commission chairman set for April 24-26; district seats qualifying to be held May 8-10 Two current district commissioners, two former district commissioners, and one former county school board member have announced intention to run for chairman position by Prissi Sullivan A plethora of potential candidates have come forward to announce their intention to run for the position of chairman of Carroll County Board of Commissioners; a seat vacated by the resignation of Chairman Marty Smith on March 15, 2019 (his term was to expire December 31, 2020) to take a position with the State of Georgia. The winner of this Special Election will fill the remainder of Smith’s four year term. Another election will be held for the position of chairman at the November 2020 General Election. Two former district commissioners are in the mix, Vicki Anderson and John Wilson. This vote to purchase four John Deere Saber 25 Series Mowers at $179,127.20 each was taken at the Tuesday, April 2, 2019, meeting of the Carroll County Board of Commissioners. The vote was 5-1 to approve, with the one vote against cast by Interim Chairman Geoige Chambers. This is, most likely, the last time this particular group of board members will meet. Two district commissioners, District 4 Michelle Morgan and District 5 Lee Powers, have announced their intention run for the open chairman position. Qualifying for the chair position is April 24-26. As a district commissioner, Morgan and Lee are required to resign from the board to run for chair (vacated midterm by Marty Smith in March).
