Complex, located at 115 West Center Street.
Several items were up for discussion on the
agenda, including a rezoning request for a
property on Maple View Drive.
At the meeting, the council was presented
with the rezoning request by developer D.R.
Horton. The property in question is a 20.13-
acre tract located on Maple View Drive. It is
situated in the northwest portion of the Maple
Street Commons development. Horton’s plan
was to construct a 75-house subdivision,
which could only be done by changing the
zoning status from ‘estate residential’ to ‘res
idential planned.’
The city’s Planning and Zoning
Commission reviewed the application at its
April and May meetings and recommended
approval of the development by a vote of 5-2.
However, there were stipulations. The devel
oper would be required to construct an access
path to the GreenBelt nearby and the mini
mum lot sizes had to be 4,600-square feet.
The property was annexed into the city of
Carrollton in 2005 as the Maple Street
Commons development. In Horton’s request,
it was stated that the original site plan pro
posed 86 single-family residential lots with
amenities such as a swimming pool, volleyball
and basketball courts, a recreation area and a
clubhouse.
