those who have seen the movie, there are many additions to the play you will not want to
miss!” Performance dates are March 4th, 5th, and 6th, and March 11th, 12th, and 13th
at the Carrollton Center for the Arts, downtown Carrollton.

Enjoyable! These the exciting adjectives
Director Patrick Yuran used to describe the
upcoming production of “9 to 5: The
Musical” opening 7:30 p.m. March 4th for a
two week mn at the Carrollton Center for the
Arts, downtown Carrollton. Yuran, who is
Oak Mountain Academy’s head of school,
said, “You will find the play adds texture and
layering to the characters.” Rehearsals are
ongoing now.
Most are familiar with the plot of the 1980
Hollywood movie “9 to 5” along with the
famous title song written and performed by
musical artist Dolly Parton. The play will be

Georgia’s new voter
registration system:
improved security
and faster processing

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Rafifensperger
is partnering with Salesforce, a cloud-based soft
ware company, to build a new voter registration
system on high security servers with faster proc
essing power and the most current technology for
security. MTX Group Inc. (MTX) is the imple
mentation partner for the new voter registration
system.
The voter registration system changes are
entirely on the administrative side. Georgia voters
will not see any difference in their voting experi
ence. This new voter registration system is ranked
by the Heritage Foundation as “the number one
election system in the country for election
security”.

Solar power growth in

According to Energy.gov, the amount of sun
light that strikes the earth’s surface in an hour and
a half is enough to handle the entire world’s
energy consumption for a full year. This figure
gives you an idea of the vast capability of solar
power. The question is how are we doing in
Georgia and Carroll County? In an interview with
StarNews, Jennette Gayer, co-chair of Georgia
Solar Energy Association (GSEA), stated, “As a
comparison, the state of Nevada’s solar energy
capacity is at 15%, which in that area makes
sense. Closer to home, North Carolina is at 6%,
while Georgia’s is at just 2.27%. So, there is

Qualifying fees
set for Carroll
County’s seats
for commission
and school board

The Carroll County Board of
Commissioners set qualifying fees for two
Carroll County seats open for the 2022
Elections: Carroll County Board of
Commissioner seats for districts 2, 4, and 6,
and Carroll County School Board seats for
districts 2, 5, and 7. The qualification fee
(cost) for a candidate for a commission seat
was set at S260.96. The cost for a candidate
for a school board seat is S50.00.
The commission seats are partisan; the
school board seats are not.
These fees were set at the January 22,
2022 Special Called Meeting held at 4:00
p.m. chaired by Vice-Chair Montrelle
McClendon.
