High demand to fill nursing jobs continues as

The Economic Development Division at
West Georgia Technical College has launched
a new training program to help nurses re-enter
the healthcare workforce. The demand contin
ues for qualified persons to fill nursing posi
tions as CoVID variants continue to sicken the
public.
The Nursing Re-entry Program is specifi
cally designed for nurses who have an active
Georgia nursing license but have not practiced
nursing for four or more years, who want to
reinstate their Georgia nursing license, or who
have an active nursing license in another state
but want to apply for a Georgia nursing
license. There are two pathways to re-enter:
one for Registered Nurses (RNs) and one for
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN).

On Tuesday, February 8, 2022, The Mayor
and City Council of Villa Rica held their
monthly work session at 10:00 a.m. and regu
lar meeting at 6:00 p.m. at the Hold-Bishop
Justice Center, Municipal Courtroom, 101
Main Street. The work session consisted of
items that were put into a consent agenda to
be voted on in the regular meeting.

Qualifying for public office was held state
wide beginning Monday, March 7 th and closing
at noon Friday, March 11th as per the Secretary
of State’s 2022 Scheduled Elections calendar.
Several candidates were ready to fill out paper
work and pay the accompanying qualifying fee
when the Carroll County Board of Elections
opened at 8:00 a.m. Monday morning.
The county office handled the qualifications
for Carroll County School Board and Carroll
County Commission. The other local open seats,

Bryant Turner qualified on Monday, March 7th
seeking a second term as a member representing
the board’s District 7. The Primary Election will
be held May 24th. (The position of chair is one
elected by the board itself.)

New Carrollton City
manager hires assistant
They produce “first employee newsletter”

On Monday, February 7, 2021, the Mayor
and City Council of Carrollton, Georgia met for
their regular monthly meeting at the Public
Safety Complex Court/Council Chambers, 115
West Center Street, Carrollton.
City Manager David Brooks announced that
he had hired Stacy Dean as his assistant. They
produced the first employee newsletter last
month and expect to soon have a citizen’s news
letter available to all of Carrollton.
