Election System secure

The conclusions of a review by The MITRE
Corporation, an accredited laboratory founded
for the purpose of giving engineering and tech
nical guidance to the federal government, of
the Georgia Election System was released. The
report states, “It is MITRE’s expert opinion
that it is operationally infeasible that the

Deadline nears for package store
applications in City of Villa Rica
City plans to have four districts, one liquor store per district
Voters approved a referen
dum during the November 2,
2021 General Election allowing
the City of Villa Rica to permit
package sales of alcohol. A
strong majority of voters -
78.6% - approved. This past
April 12th, city council passed
an amendment to the city’s
alcoholic beverage ordinance
permitting package sales, with
conditions. A lottery is sched
uled for July 13 th to award,
potentially, only four licenses.
The city plans on having four
districts within the city limits
and allowing one store per dis
trict. None of the stores will be
in the downtown area.
The city has been accepting
applications with the applica
tion deadline closing in on June
15th. After that date, a staff-

Liberty Baptist Church Bowdon Teen Group wins Georgia Right To Life’s video contest
Liberty Baptist Church Bowdon Teen Group, made up of students from Central High, Ranburne High,
Heard County Middle, Handley High, Bowden High, and Haralson County High, captured the top prize of
$350 at this year’s state level Georgia Right to Life (GRTL) Video Contest. The video “Why I am Pro-Life”
was inspired by the youth department’s passionate stand on pro-life issues in today’s society. GRTL
President Ricardo Davis is shown above center with the winners.
“We believe that God is the giver of life and taker of life. Jesus stated that he had come that we might
have life and have life more abundantly. Our teens have a heart to serve the Lord in which we support the
West Georgia Right to Life movement,” said Youth Director Adam Mangram of Liberty Baptist Church.

tion watchers, the Carroll County
May 24th Primary Election had no
local runoffs despite two races hav
ing multiple candidates. Not sur
prising was the low voter turnout at
less than a third (27.24%) of the
total current 82,192 registered vot
ers: 22,385 Carroll Countians cast
ing a ballot.
Of those 22,385 total ballots cast,
May 24th Primary Election
22,385 ballots cast
Ballots were chosen as follows:
Republican Ballot 82.28%
Democratic Ballot 16.97%
Non-Partisan Ballot 0.75%
82.28% (18,420) chose the
Republican Ballot; 16.97% (3798)
chose the Democratic Ballot; and

Two foxes in Carroll County test positive
for rabies after biting two residents

The Georgia Public Health
Laboratory has confirmed that two
foxes from Carroll County recently
tested positive for rabies. JJie
Carroll County Animal Control
Office retrieved both foxes within
0.2 miles from each other in the
vicinity of Highway 78, Villa Rica,
and Old Villa Rica Road, Temple,
after two separate incidents involv
ing two residents of Carroll County.
One incident occurred on May
20, and the second bite incident
occurred on May 27. JJie Carroll
County Animal Control Office sent
both foxes for testing to the Georgia
Public Health Laboratory and
received results that both foxes
