Dean Hemphill Clarks Chapel Baptist Church 176 Mathis Lake Rd. Thomaston, GA 30286 Christians are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior. Believing that God raised His Son from the dead is how an individual becomes a Christian. We read in Romans 10:9 these words: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” We see that the heart and confession work to gether. The confession must be backed up by the heart. We know from Matthew 7:21 that Jesus said, “Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven.” Someone might live in a garage and call himself a car, but it doesn’t make him one. Some attend a church and call themselves Christians, but that does n’t make them one. Once a sincere heart belief takes place and a heart believing confession is made ac cording to the scriptures, that individual is saved. Purchasing new clothes and hiding eggs may be a tradition for Easter, but the real meaning is that Jesus Christ got up from the dead with the authority over hell and death.
