T-U School System Honors 2021 Retiring Staff

The Thomaston-Upson
County School system cele
brated the retiring teachers
and staff by hosting a drive-
by parade at the primary
school on June 1.
The following teachers
and transportation workers
were honored at the parade:
Sherry McGuffey, Lethia
Sneed, Tina Coker, Cynthia
McCrary, Shelly Tribbey,
Beth Brown, Eva Ellerbee,
Dr. Cole Pugh, Melinda
Sanders, Zenova Hocken-
hull, and Michael Owens.
The community recog
nized the hard work and
dedication of the retiring
staff, and showed their ap
preciation to them through
cards, gifts, and many hugs.
Former students, parents,
and coworkers gathered to
congratulate and thank the
retiring teachers and trans
portation workers for their
positive influence.
The school is deter
mined to “celebrate excel
lence in education.” These
retiring staff members
played a large role in Upson
Lee Schools and the Thom-
aston-Upson community.

ogy in Atlanta.
Dr. Steve Dorman, pres
ident of Georgia College, has
awarded degrees to the grad
uating class of May 2021,
which includes:

Natalie Miller
Alyssa Rawls.
Elijah Eubanks and Sam
uel Uphold were both re
cently named to the Dean’s
List at Georgia College for
obtaining a 3.7 or higher
grade point average during
the spring 2021 semester.
Georgia College also re
leased the President’s List for
the spring 2021 semester.
Students named to the list
must obtain a 4.0 minimum
GPA during the semester.
Local students named to the

Georgia Military Col
lege’s Zebulon Campus re
cently announced outstand
ing college students who
have achieved academic dis
tinction during the spring
2021 term, which ran from
March 17 to May 21.
Those named to the Pres
ident’s List must earn a 3.7
minimum GPA while en
rolled full time, and includes:
Skylar Elliott
Walker Pitts
Desmund Wilkins.
Vassili Winkler and
Kristen Brooks were named
to the spring 2021 Pres
ident’s List at Georgia State
University. Eligible students
must earn a minimum 4.0
GPA during the semester.
Catherine Wyrosdick was
named to the spring 2021
Dean’s List at GSU. Eligible
students must earn a mini
mum 3.5 GPA during the se
mester.
Benjamin McDaniel has
been named to the Dean’s
List at Emmanuel College in
Franklin Springs for the
spring semester of the 2020-
21 academic year. To be
named to the Dean’s List,
students must be enrolled
full time with a minimum
3.60 GPA during a given se
mester.
