‘Once on This Island’ The Musical
Last weekend, the
Upson-Lee High School
Theatre Knights pre
sented their 2024 spring
musical, “Once on This Is
land,” following months
of hard work and prepara
tion.
Based on the novel
“My Love, My Love” by
Rosa Guy, the show told
the story of peasant girl Ti
Moune, a boy named Dan
iel, and a union that prej
udice forbids.
Directed by Jacob
Sapp with musical direc
tion led by Beth Masen-
gale, stage management
was led by Sarah Chap
man with Kimmie Ahrens
over choreography.
Cast members in

(Ti Moune), AJ Nickerson
(Daniel), Elisa Sanchez

School Marching Knights
band.
Each fall, members of
the Morning Star Lodge
27 and Khira Shrine Club
oversee all concession
stand operations for the
U-L Knights football
games at Matthews Field.
In addition to providing
football fans with classic
stadium concessions,
they donate a portion of
profits each season to the
ULHS Marching Knights
band.
Officials from the
school system, ULHS,
and the ULHS band gave
thanks to the groups for
their support and encour
ages everyone to continue
purchasing concessions
at football games.

Upson Farm Bureau
Offering $1,000 Scholarship
To all graduating seniors preparing to start
college, Upson County Farm Bureau is offering
a scholarship open to all incoming freshman,
and although the priority is an agriculture field
or consumer education field, it is open to all ma
jors.
The $1,000 scholarship is sponsored by the
Upson County Farm Bureau Board, Women’s
Committee, and Young Farmer’s Committee.
Interested applicants can contact Judy
Warren at the UCFB office by calling 706-648-
6668. All applications must be submitted no
later than Wednesday, May 1.
High School Student
Designs Festival Shirts
This year's T-shirts for the annual Thomas-
ton Art & Soul Fest were designed by Upson-Lee
High School graphic design student Kenya
Montfort.
Students Samuel Dean, Stephanie Nipp,
Markenzie Banks, Kingston Allen, and Kamiya
Batiste worked last week to produce the shirts
for the festival kickoff.
ULHS thanks Kenya and all in the graphic
design class for their hard work and stellar pro
ducts.
