I did get the camellia and azalea bushes trimmed and ready for landscaping fabric and mulch yesterday evening while it was quite cool. I am so thankful for the rain because we were getting a little dry, and I needed some soft ground to install solar lights. I will still wait until May, like my mom always advised, to do any serious plant ing. I can remember having a frost in May and having to cover all the plants outside in order to save them. I knew my grandson Michael was coming over Sunday, and I baked a whipping cream pound cake because he loves it. As of late, I have been making quite a few casseroles and freezing part of them for later. I love the corn and beef casserole, but I cook and drain the beef before assembling the dish. I just do not like a greasy casserole and always try to keep it as greaseless as possible. I love cheese and garlic biscuits and usually buy a packet mix, but the recipe for them is so easy and quick. The recipe for the Danish is one of my all-time favorites, and it tastes as though it is made from scratch. CORN AND BEEF CASSEROLE 6 ounces egg noodles, cooked and drained 1 pound lean ground beef 1 can tomato soup V2 cup chopped bell pepper 1 small onion, chopped 2 cans drained white shoe peg corn Catsup Grated cheddar cheese Cover bottom of casserole dish with cheese. Mix the first seven ingredients by hand and place over the cheese in the casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Remove from oven, spread catsup on top. Place small slices of cheese randomly over the top of the cas serole. Return to oven and cook until cheese is melted and bubbly. QUICK GARLIC-CHEESE BISCUITS 2 cups Bisquick baking mix 2/3 cup milk V2 cup shredded cheddar cheese V4 cup melted butter V4 teaspoon garlic powder Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix Bisquick, milk, and cheese until a soft dough forms. Beat for a minute and then drop by heaping tablespoons onto a lightly greased baking sheet pan. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Mix butter and garlic powder and brush over warm biscuits. CINNAMON ROLL CHEESE DANISH 1 (17.5 ounce) can large cinnamon rolls with icing 1 (8-ounce) package softened cream cheese ■V4 cup sugar 2 tablespoons sour cream 1 teaspoon lemon juice V2 teaspoon vanilla Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 9-inch pie pan with vegetable spray. Separate dough into 5 rolls and set the icing aside. Unroll 1 roll into a long strip of dough and joint another roll to the first one. Place the joined rolls in a circular pattern in the pie pan, leaving enough room for filling in between. In a small bowl, beat all the remaining ing redients with electric mixer until smooth. Spoon or pipe cream mixture be tween the layers of cinnamon roll dough. A plastic zip-lock bad filled with mixture and then snipped in a bottom corner works very well for this. Start at the center of the pan with the tip of the bag about halfway down into roll and pipe to the outside of the pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-35 mi nutes or until center is baked and the edges are a deep golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes and then drizzle with the icing. Cut into wedges and serve warm.
