Mrs. Barbara Jane
Whitley DeLoatch, age 88,
of Thomaston, died Sat
urday June 8, 2024, at
Atrium Health Navicent in
Macon.
Mrs. DeLoatch was
born on Feb. 6,1936. in La
grange, to the late William
Oliver Whitley and the late
Lila Mae Irvin Whitley. She
worked as an office man
ager in the dental industry
for many years. Mrs. De
Loatch was a member of
New Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to her par
ents, she is preceded in
death by her husband,
Jesse B. DeLoatch, her
brother, Fred Thomas
Fincher, and sister, Iver-
lene Fincher Waller.
Survivors include her
sons, Thomas (Lynn) De
Loatch of Albany, Ga.,
Dennis (Nancy) DeLoatch
of Ft. Mountain, Ga, Ryan
(Stacye) DeLoatch of
Thomaston; 10 grandchil
dren; and 15 great-grand
children.
Memorial services were
held on Tuesday, June 11,
2024, at 2 p.m. from the
chapel of Coggins Funeral
Home. The family received

Doolittle Lutke
Mrs. Janis Doolittle
Lutke, age 73, of Thomas
ton, died Saturday, June 8,
2024, at her residence.
Mrs. Lutke was born
Aug. 16, 1950, in Thomas
ton, to the late William
Doolittle and the late Ellen
Johnson Doolittle. She was
a homemaker.
In addition to her par
ents, she was preceded in
death by her husband,
Gary Lutke; brother, Mark
Doolittle; and sister, Anne
Butts.
Survivors include her
daughters, Christina
Golden of York, Pa., Jan
(Steve) Chandler of Clarks
ville, Tenn., and Jill (Gary)
Thomas of Warner Robins;
son, John (Jessica) Lutke
of The Rock; brother, Wil
liam Timothy Doolittle of
Meansville; six grandchil
dren; and three great
grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Alice Wynn,
age 83, of Thomaston, died
Monday, June 10, 2024, at
Upson Regional Medical
Center.
Mrs. Wynn was born
Dec. 15,1940, in Sanders-
ville, to the late Arthur
Peavy and the late Orie Lee
Wilkins Peavy. She retired
from Riverside Health and
Rehab as a nurse.
In addition to her par
ents, she was preceded in
death by her husband,
Hugh Wynn; daughter,
Angela Sturgeon; brothers,
Son Peavy, Jimmy Peavy,
and Jack Peavy; and
sisters, Etta Mae Trawick,
and Dorris Gibson.
Survivors include her
daughter, Kim (Randy)
Parker of Thomaston; son,
Tony Smith of Middleburg,
Fla.; brothers, Bobby
(Nita) Peavy of Milledge-
ville and Eddie (Gail) Peavy
of Macon; grandchildren,
Kayla Parker, Chris Parker,
B.J. Whitley, Faith Garner,
Susan Diana; and seven
great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will
be held Saturday, June 15,
at 2 p.m. from the chapel of
Coggins Funeral Home.

Mr. John Virgil Hill
Mr. John Virgil Hill, age
82, of Thomaston, died
Monday, June 3, 2024, at
his residence.
Mr. Hill was born Dec.
12, 1941, in Taliaferro
County, to the late Roy Hill
and Louise Johnson Hill.
He retired from Martha
Mills after more than 40
years.
In addition to his par
ents, he was preceded in
death by his brothers, Clar
ence and James Hill.
Survivors include his
son, Kyle (Monica) Hill of
Fredericksburg, Va., and
grandchildren, Ethyn Hill
and Jake Hill.
Mr. Hill was cremated,
and no services are
planned at this time.

the D.U.I. Detection and
Standardized Field So
briety Testing course
taught by the Georgia Po
lice Academy Division of
the Georgia Public Safety
Training Center in Forsyth.
According to a release
by the GPSTC, this training
program includes the ob
servation techniques in
volved in recognizing when
a driver may be operating a
vehicle under the influence
of intoxicants. Patterns of
driver behavior and the
more common driving er
rors committed by drivers
under the influence of in-

Students are taught the
safe methods of stopping
and approaching a suspect
driver and the observations
to make in order to deter

the influence.
Emphasis is placed on
the proper manner in
which to administer field

are used to emphasize the
importance of a proper re
sponse to this problem.

Traffic Safety Administra
tion and the International
Association of Chiefs of Po
lice.
